A few colleagues and I were discussing the possibility of upsets for our respected teams, Tennessee for myself and Ole Miss for my peers, to which they began to try and convince me that Petrino would pull off an upset over us. They had a variety of reasons, but we incapable of convincing me.

What say ye Vol Nation. Does Bobby stand a chance?

I say Nay!

Anything is possible in college football. Petrino is an excellent offensive play caller and is great at making adjustments.

But, UT is too talented to go down, especially on the Offensive line. I would line up and let the O-line takeover the game.

I think Ole Miss upsets LSU in Oxford. I think Ole Miss finishes 8-4 and goes to the Chick Fil-A Peach Bowl.

More of a chance of southern Alabama upsetting TBH. If you look at the schedule it's the classic example of a trap game.

if.....tennessee is looking ahead to oregon

and

if.....tennessee's qb play is that bad

and

if.....tennessee's defense is still the paved road to the endzone

maybe, it will be close.

other than that, no way.

I think they (we, I'm an alumni) have a chance to pull out 9, including a bowl. That's best case though of course. Got season tickets... Will be making my way to Knox for 2 or 3 games though

You know what I'll be glad for? When football season starts so people can start threads about actual things going on with the team instead of daily garbage threads like this one pretending to be psychic. :banghead2:

just curious, what made you think this?

There's no doubt he can X and O. But he has achieved this status where some people think of him as a Spurrier/Meyer/Saban type coach that should be feared. He just doesn't warrant that yet.

I think most overrated is a stretch, but history has shown he pretty much always leaves a program much worse than when he found it. Then again, he pretty much always leaves under a cloud of controversy.

i don't deny any of that.

however, he can take 85 guys and get a hell of a lot more out them than the vast majority of head coaches could get out of the same 85 guys.

run a program....no.

coach the game of football. hell, yeah. dude can coach. if only that was the only job requirement.

Bobby Petrino might be the most overrated football coach in America.

This is the dumbest statement I think I've seen you post like ever. Just because you despise him personally doesn't mean he can't coach. He could get 400 yds of offense from 11 walk ons. If you want to debate this, feel free, but I know the facts.
