Possible 9-4 season and still unhappy fans!

Oh, cool. Another "you're not a true fan" unless you pee your pants with excitement over 8-4 & a bowl game. Does who you beat have anything to do with determining an actually accomplishment? We literally beat NO ONE this season. But I guess I'm a crappy fan for daring to say it (or at least being honest about it).

Thats not it at all. But after so much complaining, negativity and regurgitated crap, it seems like being a little excited that the team is showing improvement would be cause for some happiness.

It doesnt make you a crappy fan. Just one with a negative attitude. I am just glad the players and coaches dont share your same attitude.

Well genius boy, he put the team in position to win those games most of which weren't even competitive last year like the Oklahoma and Alabama games. Yet, he only gets the blame for losing a close game. You criticize any and every decision he makes.

For some, Butch will never get any credit. He deserves blame for the losses, but so do the players. Just like the players deserve credit for the wins, so does Butch.

Fair enough. I just don't see where y'all derive so much happiness from losing to the good teams & beating the bad ones. Especially considering we had huge leads in every loss. Whatever floats your boat.

Thats cool. I hate that we lost those close games to those good teams. Especially since we had leads on them. However, I have seen progress in this team. If you want to call it moral victories and complain about them fine but they are wins in a sense. The players see that they can compete and hang with the upper echelon teams. I think that gives them confidence in themselves and the coaches. And thats very important. You have to admit, the Vols play their heart out for Butch. The talent gap between the Vols and the elite teams in CFB is closing. I badly want to beat the great teams just like you. Its just after so many years of bad football, it feels good to be talking bout 8-9 wins again. Even if it was against the bad teams. I mean honestly, coild you even envision 8 wins 5 years ago? I know I couldnt.

I am looking at the AP top 25 and there are at least three teams we could beat right now.

3???

We can beat EVERY team in the top 25 right now except Alabama. And we still took them to the wire. Oklahoma is everyone's darling right now and we dominated them for 50 minutes.

There isn't a team in the country we can't compete with.

But do we have any quality wins?

If you were a fan of another team, you would be saying "who have they beat"

Were better, yeah. But our opponents are down also. Though we did play our loses close. We still ain't beat anyone.
Just saying

There are teams in the playoffs right now that haven't beaten anyone. See Notre Dame. Our close losses to Alabama and Oklahoma are like Notre Dame's close loss to Clemson that is their calling card right now.

Can there not be a fan that is happy for improvement and hugely disappointed that we left big wins on the field? Does every fan have to fit one extreme or another?

Negavols will achieve ultimate happiness when these same tired threads calling out negavols stop

Heard that. This shameless pandering for likes by beating this negavol drum is already so old and feeble I have to question...is there really intelligent life on planet VN? :shades:

GO VOLS!

Negavols won't be happy until Tennessee has no coach period!
Then there would be no one for them to fuss about firing all of the time!

I will be happy when and if we ever beat florida and Alabama again. I am not very confident that butch can get that done next season at all. I don't think he should get a pass if we lose to florida again he should either leave or have to restaff. NO ONE has BEATEN US 12 times in a row if he lets that happen then he should have consequences be it forfeit money or restaff. he has done a lot of good. but 2016 is the year to beat florida and Alabama.

It amazes me that this team is likely to finish 9-4 counting a bowl win...and we will still have some unhappy fans! We will have a certain percentage of fans that will instinctively focus on the "we could've/should've won this or that game" instead of appreciating this program's progress and accomplishments! There are one or two plays in a game that can determine it's outcome. Unfortunately we didn't catch every break this year...THAT'S FOOTBALL!!! To you Negavols...please jump ship...jump on somebody else's 11-1 or 12-0 bandwagon...but don't ever confuse yourself with a true Volunteer fan. This team and coaching staff have shown a TON of heart, effort, dedication, and most of all PROGRESS!!! I'm very proud of our team and coaches who give their all for Tennessee everyday! GO VOLS!!!

i highly doubt anyone is dissatisfied with this team. But the critics understand that this team did NOT live up to its potential. Not at all the fault of the players. Game day decisions limited the potential of Team 119. Many fans see this team's potential at 10-2 during the regular season after evaluating the talent on the field. 11-2 at the end of the season would have clearly planted this team in the top 10 going into the next season. We will be lucky to make the top 20 now.
