gonna try it again!!!!

Well now that I've had this revelation about Marty Schottenheimer - hell I guess him! Why not? Let come on down to Knox-Vegas for 4 or 5 yrs. if he can,...groom the next guy, Chavis might stay,....automatic winner (except for maybe THE BIG GAME), automatic creditials,.....his son played @ UF under Spurrier I think,...maybe some Evil Geniusness rubbed off? But Schottenheimer is the longest shot,...but I'd like either UConn coach, USF, Bower,....but I'd really like Jim (doing more with less) Harbaugh.....

"[edit] Los Angeles Raiders
As coach of the Raiders (at the time located in Los Angeles), Shell compiled a record of 54 wins, 38 losses, and was named AFC Coach of the Year in 1990, when the Raiders won the AFC West division with a 12-4 record, and advanced to the AFC championship game in the playoffs. Al Davis, owner of the Raiders, fired Shell after a 9-7 season in 1994, a move Davis later said he regretted."

I did miss on Shanahan. But I think I supported my point about other coaches having success despite Al Davis.

And who was the coach two years ago when the Raiders went 1-15 and had the first pick in the draft?

Art Shell.

I think you are actually helping me prove my point here. I was unaware that Shell was a previous coach of the Raiders. But now that you have put that info out there, we can compare the different Eras, since you said Davis is still a meddling micromanagers and the players are just fine. If Shell was able to do just fine before, and then was EPIC FAIL when he came back, wouldn't that be an indicator that there is something different about the program? Be it the players, the attitude/culture in the lockerroom, or the bat **** senile owner. But no, keep on pushing your agenda that it was just Kiffin who is an awful HC, and anyone can do a great job and make the raiders win. They have one of the worst winning percentages in the last 5 years for a reason.

So, just for to be clear, if Brian Kelly was the coach of the Oakland Raiders he would have done better than 5-15? With the same players and same lack of control (thanks to the insane owner) Kelly would have done better in Oakland?

Not sure what you're getting at. I thought your analogy about Kiffin and the Raiders was spot on.

Have any of you read the book Meat Market? It tells about Coach O's recruiting season while at Ole Miss. He recruited all of the players that beat Florida this year and he convinced Jevan Sneed to transfer from Texas. Not too shabby for a third tier sec school.

If Orgeron comes to UT, we will be on probation in little or no time. He got away with his recruiting tactics at Southern Cal and Ole Miss, but now he is visible. Do you think competing schools in the SEC are going to sit around and watch him sign up all the good players by using non-kosher techniques? No, they won't, and soon the NCAA will be having a field day in Knoxville. In the mean time, our football program will continue to tumble to new lows every year.:shaking2:

If you classify Ole Miss as a 3rd tier school, you evidently have never been there or know peanuts about what you are talking about. Throw out with W's and L's, and they have what all other schools drool about.

Welcome to VN, but that post is moronic. Orgeron is a genious at recruiting. How many other assistant coaches write a book about recruiting? If Saban hasn't got caught doing anything, neither will coach O. And BTW, there is no "if" he is coming. Its official. With O, Kiffin(s), and new players coming in why would our program "continue to tumble to new lows"

unfortunetly for you recruits care a little bit about "W's and L's."

they are a 3rd tier football school. Pretty tough to throw out wins and losses when discussing that isn't it?
