Possibility of a 2-6 Record

I love how everyone is "realistic" nowadays. What a pathetic fanbase.

Good Lord. I was at the game Saturday, and sometimes you would think people weren't cheering for the Vols. Boos left and right. What a joke. I was so happy to be able to make it to a REAL GAME (I go to every Georgia Tech game--and they're HAPPY to have 45-50,000 fans at a game) and be part of something special that is football at the University of Tennessee.

Some of you need to go back to the basics... Go to the Vol walk. Sit down and take a deep breath. Enjoy the atmosphere. Sing Rocky Top (yes, with "wooo!") Stand up while the TEAM IS ON DEFENSE. Go and cheer the team on WIN OR LOSE.

It's not like you complaining will change what is going to happen. SO GET OVER IT.
Word. But you know during the undefeated National Championship year some of these guys were still negative, some were still griping about this or that, and some were still questioning the coach. Just how they are I guess. i personally am sick of the negativity and BS that is spread by some of our "fans".

If Kiffin gets 7 or 8 wins out of this team, considering all of the weaknesses at key positions and complete lack of depth, I would consider him to have over-achieved.

Hey, I agree. I'm thinking now that we're anywhere from a 3 to 5 win team. I was just going by what VN Guru Hat keeps saying.

I'll just say this: being realistic in no way means that's what someone hopes will happen. I'm certain that many true Vol fans believe we will lose to Georgia; however, they will cheer like crazy that we don't. Those tough guys that call names and PM insults are simply pissed off that they can't be realistic enough to face facts. They simply disguise it with tough talk. Take off the orange-tinted glasses; we are not very good right now. Imagine how they will act when we get the program back on top. Maybe when you grow up, you'll understand that "fan" does not mean you should be out of touch with reality.
Go Vols!

The more posts I read from you, the more glaring your title of guru becomes. How does the WR's,OL in 06 compare to 09. May I remind you TN had 6 players drafted in 07, 1 in 09. Cutcliffe did not part the red sea, he was fortunate there was enough talent to work with.

No RB's were drafted in 07, the position I was talking about.
Compare Hardesty's numbers in (09) to Foster's numbers (06).

You may not like Cutliffe but look at Ainge's stats in (05) to (06), the change was phenomenal.
BTW do you have to be so insulting??

Who cares, right? This a REBUILDING year, nothing more.

Watch the games, chill out with an adult beverage and bide your time. Believe it or not, this offense is better than last year and that is the improvement I am looking for.

This is not a 1 or 2 year fix as so many VN posters want. Next year will be better, and in 2011, watch out!

Hmmmmm. Again, perhaps some of the frustration on the board this year was elevated expectations with something new.

I think all Vol fans had better prepare for 1988 redux next year. I believe we will be very, very bad in the beginning, but hopefully end on a winning streak which carries over into Decade of Dominance 2 starting in 2011.

But I think we'd better be prepared as a fan base for big losses early next year. It could be even uglier than this.

2011. Mark it down.

Stephens won't start next year either.

We'd better not count our freshman before they've hatched.

PS - I don't think Phil loses to UCLA again this year; he would have kept running it and running it and running it. He may have put in NS or Coleman too......

2010 = 1988 in Vol world. However, 1988 was followed by the Decade of Dominance.....

That's a stretch. Phil was in a downward spiral that might have entailed an even more disastrous season this year than we are now experiencing.

Phil would have learned his lesson from last year. No way should any OC let any of our QBs throw it 40 times a game.
