I suppose a ton of ppl in volnation would call me a "negavol." I NEVER approved of the Dooley hire, but I did sit back and hope for the best. The past 3 seasons have been, ahem, not the best and for the most part, not even mediocre.

My theory is that the anti-negavols are the TRUE negavols. The anti group seems to be complacent with where we are at and are willing to sink the program even further on the hopes Dooley gets it together.

It doesn't make me negative to want better. It actually makes me hopeful and, yes positive. POSIVOLS UNITE! Nega is the new posi, yo

yeah, been thinking that for awhile...

so-called "posi-vols" will tell you that Tennessee isn't supposed to win big games. That no coach but a loser from the WAC would be willing to come here. That Fulmer's later years and/or Kiffin's sudden departure warrants 3 years of dismal football where we are on the level of a Vanderbilt and lose to Kentucky.

I do not consider VOL fans who are calling for a coaching change to be anti-Vols or "nega-Vols." I consider us to be frustrated by the losing, the lame excuses and blame game by coaches, and the apparent apathy coming from the Athletic Director's office. Has anyone heard any sort of official word from Dave Hart? Has hart come out with ANY support whatsoever for Dooley and the team? Has Hart said a word to the fan base about possible consequences for continued coaching ineptitude? The answer to each of those questions is "No."

Folks, if you want to call me a nega-Vol, or negative... that's your right as an American. However, as much as I love the BIG ORANGE, and have done so for over 50 years, I hate seeing what we have been seeing on the turf... especially this year: too many dropped passes, too many fumbles, too many sorry passes, too many interceptions, too many attempted arm tackles, too much head coach looking like "a doe in a semi's headlights."

If I sound negative... I apologize, but I'm sick-and-tired of seeing what we have witnessed on the field week-in-and-week-out. Under the current circumstances, UT fans have the right to be frustrated, we have the right to be mad, we have the right to want dramatic changes in the coaching staff, and the right to see traditional UT quality play from our team on the field each Saturday afternoon.

Now, let me say something positive... "Dave Hart, fire Dooley and hire a proven SEC level head coach! GO VOLS!!!" ><>

Most of us were on the ones who from the very beginning, bashed the coach without first seeing what he could do on the field with a team that he solely recruited

We stated that we should first give him a chance to rebuld the roster and depth and then see how he did.

We were then called morons, doolaide drinkers, doolanders, doolholes, Da's, blah, blah, blah

Natural reaction was to react in kind

Some posters were tactful in their responses and dislikes of Dooley. We returned with tactful responses

^^^ I approve this message^^^

I also ask for your vote, LOL.

VFL...GBO!!!

Dear Vol Fans,

Hello, my name is Pat Poulsen, I'm dead... and I'm running for President of the United States. In my campaign I make only two promises:

1) As President, I will not say anything stupid that will embarrass our blessed nation (how can I, I'm dead).

2) If elected, I will try to talk Dave Hart into firing Derek Dooley as head coach, and replace him with a proven D1, SEC quality coach. I make no promises that Hart will take any action on this, because he only listens to "prominent donors." However, if elected, I will try to make it happen.

3) I'll initiate legislation that insures that there will be at least one playing of "Rocky Top" at every UT football game...

4) Finally, as President, I will make sure that laws are enacted to ensure that there will be at least one door in every house!

Your vote and support is greatly appreciated... Thank you!

GO VOLS!!!

Your favorite candidate,

Pat Paulsen (Deceased)

Rule #1: I am never wrong

Rule #2: if I am wrong, refer to rule #1

When an idiot AD hires a guy who couldn't win in the WAC, rational fans should be upset. Instead, here we got a constant "You're all wrong. He's going to win. He's got intangibles! He's got a southern accent!" load of rubbish. And what is the price of ignorant/blind faith? Utter incompetence on the field, a culture of excuse-making, a loss to Kentucky, and a program that competes more on the level of Vanderbilt than on the level of any legitimate SEC contender. People need to be held accountable for their stupidity.

We all want the same thing as Vol fans. The difference in opinions comes from how long it should take. If Dooley is fired and a new coach is brought in, you are going to get the same thing. If there is 1-2 years of below average wins from the new coach, these same arguments will be here. Just change the name of the coach and the people clamoring.

Think I could stomach it better if the current hire had proven himself at his last job, at least...

All I see in the above is a negavol submitting a "nah, nah, nah, I was right and you were wrong" post and enjoying the moment. I can't speak for all posivols but strongly suspect that like me, they believed in the program and the team. That's because that's what a true fan is supposed to do. Like anyone we can end up being disappointed. Just as much as a fisherman who knows a prime spot, hauls a friend along and practically guaranteeing they will take home the limit. Only for neither to catch anything and be very disappointed.

The players talked about shocking the world, I believed. We had defensive struggles with inferior teams but since they were just tune up games, I believed. We practically gave Florida the game when we stopped using what was working, I believed. We had a close game with a rank team we should have won, I believed. I didn't ever expect us to beat Bama but thought we'd give them a darn good fight, We didn't, my heart sank. Now we face the belligerent roosters and I believe we'll win. A posivol knows they will very likely see disappointment but never ever stop believing in their team. And certainly won't select the disappointed as an excuse to punch their coach and faithful fans in the balls as you did.

It does seem sadly evident that CDD hasn't instilled team leadership or a do or die killer instinct in his team. I'm even starting to grudgingly accept the accusation that he doesn't coach up players. But until the final game of the season, I will root for him, the team, and the program and not spew negative, discouraging, and spiteful nah, nah, nah posts as you do, and enjoy doing so.
