I'm having a really difficult time understanding how, a team with the $$$ Tennessee has to pay players, we could ever be thin at any position.
You going to pay 100k for a nissan sentra? They aren't going to overpay for G5 backups. They picked up Hood in the winter, but there wasn't anybody worth signing in the spring. Hard to expect you lose both your starters. Nobody has a contingency plan for losing both starters.

This is going to become the norm for all of college football in the near future. IMO there are no longer going to be the rosters that Saban and Smart have built in the years past. Number 1 they would be just too expensive to maintain and some of these kids have a short window to make all the money they can and there is not value in being a back-up.

This loss affected me worse than any loss in all my years watching Vol football. I don't know if I'll ever get over it. Some losses still stick w me but this was/is the worst...for me...cuz we had it and it woulda been HUGE....but dang...that kicker. This will haunt me for a looong time. I don't know what can happen to cancel it fully. I fear nothing will. Speaking just for me. I'm jealous of you guys that can just brush it off.
now this is just weird. losing to a top 5 team in overtime with backups playing will haunt you for ever.

Think about how those players feel. We are merely fans. The coaches and players bust their rear ends. As for the fans who “shrug it off”, I wouldn’t call it that. The loss burned and still does, but I think it’s the fact we haven’t forgotten what it’s been like since Fulmer was fired, and we recognize progress. Georgia has handed us our butts every year since we threw the Hail Mary in Athens, and we still have put up 2 10 win seasons in those years—and we have seen a playoff birth (botj with the current cast). Plenty of people counted us out with Nico at the helm and following the Arkansas loss, and we still managed a playoff birth. It’s a long season, but it’s way too early to give up. If we do as fans, how do we expect our players to hang in there? Time to look forward with more hope for this season that I had in the beginning of the season, or going into that game.

Don’t be. Real life/death scenarios changed my perspective on the importance of games. All is good now for me but for others it might not be.

I like this team. Georgia had a talent advantage over the Vols, but our boys fought like hell and almost prevailed. I’m not happy over a loss, but I saw a mentally tough team in Orange who played their asses off. I saw an offensive coach who came with a good plan and a defensive coach who chose to not get beat the same way as last year.

Plenty to dislike, but I choose to celebrate what I liked.

Recently, the speculation before the Georgia game has been “ how bad will the loss be and I hope we don’t get anyone injured “. Now, the narrative has changed and Georgia truly was lucky to win the game. I don’t know how that isn’t progress.
