Positive Thread: Guys who looked GREAT vs App State

Watch the game again. We weren't gashed except for a few plays. Most of App State's rushing came off misdirection.

O'Brien looked great taking on double teams. Vickers was a monster flowing to the ball. I really liked how they looked.

Their 6' 200 lb got 98% of his 115 yards running through cavernous holes between the tackles. I saw several times were both Vickers and OBrien (and KMac) were beaten straight up with man on man blocking...they couldn't get off blocks.

And if you think I'm ever watching that, one of the worst Tennessee games I've ever witnessed in over 40 years of following Vol football your nuts. Not happening.

Will play what? Bingo? Cribbage? He and OBrien and KMac were shoved all over God's creation last night.

Im with you on this one, KB. The people giving ourr defense a pass or acceptable grade saw something different than i did. Our Oline out weighed theirs by 50 lbs/man and their d line did well. Our 5* d line did NOT control the game.

Well goodness it was App State...every player should have been looking like monsters and playing well.

They would beat the heck out the cats! Just because they don't have the name, they played a great game. Their defense used the cut blocking very effectively and moved their line continually.
On offense the movement on the different options was difficult to discern where the ball was going. They milked the clock on every play, the camera guys couldn't keep up with where the ball was going and they had a birds eye view. Imagine when you are at field level amongst all the big bodies? Sometimes you have to give the opponent credit. I believe they will beat Miami when they play in a couple of weeks.

Chance Hall will help a lot

Dobbs threw one deep ball. Malone hauled it in. Sure, one may argue that an experienced CB could have denied Malone, or that the way the ball floated through a high arch, a fast safety could have come over to aid defense, BUT, it is notable that Dobbs threw downfield and Malone hauled it in for a score. That is a GOOD thing.

The most important one that stood out to me and is the main reason I didn't have to take a xanax after a loss yesterday and sleep on a couch by myself is Bob Shoop. Dude is legit.

Heh, man, I'm one of the biggest sunshine pumpers on the boards these days, ask anyone. But I'm no more willing to give out "excellence" stickers than I am to pass out butt-kickin's when they're not really deserved.

Medley did well, he did what he needed to do, what he was asked to do. But he wasn't challenged to excel in that game. So he didn't. Excelling for Aaron is hitting the longer shots more frequently than he has in the past. We already knew he was clutch from 39 on down.

*shrug* it's just level-headed fact-checking, that's all.

The topic thread is guys who played great last night--doesn't say anything about excellence, nor does it mention other games. Medley was great in the opportunities he was given last night. No need to find fault with him.

Yep. Medley had a great game. I'd bet we're gonna need him in several games this year.

I was unfortunately only able to see a couple of plays on replay but I thought Vereen looked pretty solid.
Did Kongbo do anything?
