133 yards net (157 total yards rushing)
4.0 yard rushing average
261 yards passing
13.1 yards/competition
394 yards total offense
6 penalties for 50 yards - (Bad 2 - 30 yards P.F. Banks:mad:) otherwise 4-20 yards.

14 total plays greater than 10 yards (8 greater than 20 yards) (5 greater than 30 yards)
  • Ty Chandler - 20 yards rushing
  • Eric Gray - 12 yards rushing
  • Jarrett Guarantano - 19 yards rushing
  • Josh Palmer - 32 yards receiving
  • Velus Jones - 13 yards receiving
  • Brandon Johnson - 33 yards receiving
  • Ramel Keyton - 13 yards receiving
  • Eric Gray - 31 yards receiving
  • Princeton Fant - 11 yards receiving
  • Ty Chandler - 10 yards receiving
  • Eric Gray - 20 yards punt return
  • Velus Jones - 40 yards kick return
  • Velus Jones - 26 yards kick return
  • Hentry To'o To'o - 32 yards to the house interception
4 players with greater that 85 all purpose yards:
  • Ty Chandler - 96 yards
  • Velus Jones - 95 yards
  • Eric Gray - 91 yards
  • Josh Palmer - 85 yards
South Carolina had only 6 plays greater than 10 yards.

The defense had 4 sacks.
The defense had 9 tackles for lose.
The defense was getting pressure.

The o-line was opening huge holes.
The o-line was getting good push.
The o-line pushed a QB sneak into the end zone.

ZERO turnovers. (1 turnover on downs)
One interception by To'o To'o

Jarrett Guarantano had a 62.5% completion rate. This aint bad considering all the ugly misses all high except one rocket.
He did not throw any questionable/dangerous passes that I saw. That is an improvement.

No injuries that I am aware of.
Most important of all 1-0.

I completely understand that this game was infuriating at times.
There is plenty to work on. All of it is fixable.
Lots of players saw the field which will help in the future.
We missed several starters that would have made an impact.
I hope that some of the issues were due to lack of available players for practice.
The repeat issues are mind numbing (i.e. high throws, can't cover the slant, play calling)
We have Missouri at home next weekend, which is exactly what the doctor ordered.
GO BIG ORANGE!!!

I agree, but we did have one turnover on downs on the punt, iirc. I was happy about no turnovers too, then remembered that one.

Play calling and time of possession puts pressure on the defense. Huge plays by Henry and Brandon Johnson were clutch. I like Pruitts analysis “they found a way.” Rugby punt hits return team - Game Over. The Vols can improve dramatically and with Velus Jones and some other special teams weapons - this could be an SEC title contender. I expect a pick six every game from the defense.

It’s nice to read an articulate, factual/informational post, instead of the same old “JG sucks” garbage
