I wanted to get some positive juices flowing with some stats for this weekend. "Stats Don't Lie"

Against Alabama, Tennessee is ...

• 20-14-3 when ranked.

• 4-3-1 when both teams are ranked inside the top 10.

• Tennessee is 9-6 all-time against Alabama in games played on CBS.

• Tennessee won seven consecutive games in the series from 1995-2001 and is the only school to defeat the Crimson Tide in at least seven conescutive meetings.

Other Notes ....

• Tennessee has scored 25 offensive touchdowns this
season and is averaging 1:59 in time of possession
on those touchdown drives.

• Each of the Vols’ first seven opponents are a
combined 30-3 (.909), not including games played
against Tennessee.

• With a combined record of 68-26 (.723),
Tennessee’s first seven opponents in 2016 averaged
nearly 10 wins apiece last season.

• All seven opponents finished the season with
a bowl berth and went a combined 6-2 in the
postseason, including a national championship.

• Joshua Dobbs is respoinsible for 20.0 per game this year.

• Saturday is Lundquist’s 10th Tennessee-Alabama
game with the Vols holding a 5-4 edge with him
in the booth
.

The last one should be a Ripley's Believe It or Not!!!!:)

Didn't Auburn beat Bama 7 straight when Tubberville was there?

Edit: I was wrong. They made it to 6 in a row but fell 36-0 on the 7th try.

FWIW For comparative purposes - combined record for Bama's first 6 games, not including games against Bama -
18-11 (.621 win percentage)

I watched Bama play Arky last Sat in Fayetteville, and although the score indicated a Bama whooping I was not overly impressed with the supposed #1 team in the country. They are good against the run but Allen through for a ton of yards. The difference in the game was the pressure they got on Allen and forcing him into bad throws. On offense, Arky is just bad and let Bama score on routine plays that should have been easily defended. If our line can protect Dobbs enough to give him a little time to throw, and the D will get their running game stopped at the line of scrimmage we will have a decent chance to win. If their backs consistently get to the second level of defense, look out. They can score in a hurry.

Sad to say, but with Vern and Gary doing this game, what a pi$$ poor addition to a great rivalry. I'll be glad when Vern leaves. Mean I know but you could pull two yahoo's off the street and they could call a better game!

Vern is on his last leg, and Gary always has some smart aleck comment to make. His comments are always geared toward us. Comments about CBJ's supposed fast offense, really wasn't getting plays of that fast. Comments about how long the UF streak was. Hobb Nail boot again. The guy seesm to never have anything positive to say even when we win.

We run the ball around 72% on first down.
18% of all 1st down plays go for 10+ yards.
60% of all 1st down plays go for 4 or less.
42% of all 1st down plays go for 2 or less.
+/- 1%

The last time we were ranked #9 playing Bama was '97 when we won 38-21 in Tuscaloosa. Peyton became the 1st UT QB to beat Bama 3 times in a row.

Why do we hate Bama? It started from the 1st time we played them: 1901 was the first meeting between the two teams. It ended early in a 6–6 tie, when fans rushed onto the field after a controversial offside call and the umpires were unable to clear out the crowd in the second half.

Thy've been cheating long time.
