Positional comparisions for UT-CAL

I don't know who has the better punter, but I hope their punter has a lot more punts than ours when it is all done.

I highlighted the reasons you're a moron.

First of all - our LBs are probably one of the top 3 starting 3 in the nation.

2nd - We have as much personel in the secondary - it's just not experienced.

3rd - He wasn't the best CB in the nation

QB - what a joke..

TE - ...

LB - this is a complete joke your LBs can't touch ours.

I'll give UT the LB edge.
But USC is much better at depth, talent, and experience than UT at secondary.
Sorry, Daymeion Hughes than was the best CB last year but Cason is top 3 at least.
QB is even.

Like I said before this board is full of homers.

Um - once again yours can't touch our LBs.

UT has about as much young talent back there as USC.. but like I said if you had read.. its not experienced.

No - he wasn't top 3.

Ainge is better... he just doesn't have the receivers.. that's why there is seperate category for WR and QB.

Maybe you're the major homer. Everyone has atleast some homer in them. Get a life

DeSean Jackson vs. Eric Berry? I'll take the guy with the 4.29 speed and two years of college experience any day. Berry may develop into a great corner, but he might want to get Syd'Quan Thompson's phone number after the game so he can get advice on how to recover after getting torched.

Eric Berry is about 10x the player Thompson was when he started against Tennessee. Berry can go stride for stride with Jackson - but yeah he's young and will make some mistakes (not nearly as horrible as Mr. Thompson made though)

Who is better than Antione Cason?

Considering he wasn't considered to be a first round pick had he jetted early... I'd say.. the 5-6 corners that would have be chosen before him? Just maybe?

I'll give you top 3 for this year probably..

None the less he is better than anyone Tennessee has right now.

ONe of the most interesting coaches decisions will be whether or not Fulmer will double team Jackson.

Or, whether or not he will punt to him.

What does that have to do with anything? He doesn't play us so I could care less?

Jonathan Wade was better than him last year..

And if we are talking about secondary in general - yes Hefney is as good.

He will be double teamed a lot - the real question will be whether or not Mr. Longshore will be running for his life again or not.

As inexperienced as we are in the secondary, I'd look for a ton of Cover 2.

UT doesn't have a slight advantage in the LB category, they have a huge advantage. Also, Longshore couldn't hold Ainge's jockstrap. You have better receivers yes, but that is it.

This is only Longshore's second full season as a starting QB. In his first full season, he led Cal to a 10-3 record. I say that's not too bad, even in the pathetic Pac-10. Ainge is a senior who has had his share of problems performing to expectation in the past. I think as of right now Ainge is the better QB, all else being equal, but I wouldn't be so sure after this season.

That 4.29 was hand timed. He runs around a 4.39 or so. Berry runs a 4.35.

I'm having trouble understanding what exactly this means. Maybe you mean to say that, upon the conclusion of this upcoming season, you will think Longshore is a better quarterback than Ainge? Is this regardless of their respective performances? What a weird thing to say.

healthy Colquitt > healthy Larson
semi-injured Colquitt < healthy Larson

What makes you think he won't be fine and dandy come gameday?

More than likely the injury(if it still lingers) will affect him more as the kickoff man rather than punting.

Sorry maybe I wasn't being very clear. I think Longshore has a lot more upside than Ainge. I base that on the fact that he ended up with very similar numbers to Ainge last year as his first season as starting QB. As of this very moment, I still think Ainge is a better QB. But I'm expecting Longshore to develop into an even better QB this year, surpassing Ainge as the better QB. By the end of the year, I think Longshore will be the better QB with another year of eligibility and Ainge will have graduated. I'm not a fan of preseason rankings of any kind, but I am guessing that might be the reason Longshore was able to crack Herbie's top 6 preseason QB's this year while Ainge did not.

Nah - that had to do with politics... and a ton of koolaid

Ainge had a munch better QB rating and comp %. He also had more YPA. The only reason the Yards were that similar is because EA missed 2 games last year and wasnt 100 percent for a couple others.

Nothing makes me think he won't be healthy on gameday. I was just simply making a point that if Colquitt isn't 100% healthy, then Larson is better.

You said it yourself that "more than likely" it won't affect him punting. Which means there is a small likelihood it will, and that's why I brought it up.

Ah. Fair enough. Thanks for the clarification. :salute:
