Position Changes...

Donald has been looking good. It'll all come w/the reps but I don't think he will be starting this year.

Sounds good. I think Donald could be an awesome LB in the next couple of years. He might be the most talented and physically gifted player we have at that position. I hope he gets on the field for a few snaps this year...

Well I hope he can contribute but if he's behind Rico, I hope he isn't starting this year. Any chance he would see the field any faster at either of the other LB spots? Wouldn't think so but I figure that nobody has a stronger lock on their LB position than McCoy does.

Rico has said he is learning all of the spots. IMO, one of the reasons behind this is so if we have a LB position that is somewhat weak (MLB), he can slide there and someone can fill in the other spot.

As for Myles, I think he could potentially come in and be in the two deep immediately, depending on how quickly he can pick up Monte's system. I think his instincts and smarts will really help him out there.

FWIW, John Brice was on the Sports Monster this morning and he said Austin Rogers looked really good in practice yesterday. He said Gerald Jones looked good as well, but Rogers had a really good practice. He said Quinton Hancock struggled and Brandon Warren was still adjusting.
He has to be lying... so many here KNOW that Rogers stinks. It will be the death nell of CLK's career if Rogers gets PT... There could be a rip in the fabric of the universe if he starts.

Sorry but I just get so sick of people criticizing the guy in ways they wouldn't if he weren't melanin challenged.

Agreed, just because Rogers is white doesn't mean he can't play.

My only comment on this guy. His race has nothing to do with it. He's just not a big play or consistent receiver so I don't like him. Inconsistent adequate receivers have no place here. And now I'm done. Unless something ridiculous is said about how good this guy is.

Austin Rogers has the speed of Randy Moss combined with the hands of Calvin Johnson.

Austin had a bad year last year as did every receiver. He is solid and will be a good contributor this season.

The only problem with saying that Rogers wasn't a big play threat or consistent is that, aside from Taylor (who is gone) and, at times, Gerald Jones, we haven't really had a consistent WR or big play threat since Meachem and Swain. Moore had some big plays but was terribly inconsistent. It is a new age and the two WRs that have been showing out the most are Jones and Rogers.

I will have to agree with you here Sab. If Rogers isn't anything else, he is tough. I personally think he has a place on the field. He has been criticized for dropping balls, but he is one of the few receivers we have that will go across the middle and take one for the team. I have seen this kid get hammered and he gets right back up. I know if I got hit like they I would drop it too.

so far we have the following:

Wilks to safety from LB/WR
Douglas to OT from TE
Warren to WR from TE
Gerald Williams back to DE from LB
Wes Brown to DT from DE
any others?

If a third offensive staff in three years continues to put Austin on the field, just maybe it is because Austin can play.

Taylor and Briscoe went across the middle, too. Cutcliffe's offense or Erik Ainge's decisions just rarely led to passes in that region.
