Marquill Osbourne will challenge for playing time from day 1 at CB. I don't see Gaulden moving from nickel. TK and Berry should start at S. That leaves Abernathy, Foreman,Moseley and Osborne battling it out for the other CB spot opposite Martin

I don't see Jennings changing to safety unless he is expected to be a starter there.

I like the Croom at Tight end, and Jennings and safety move. Croom is more built like a tight end than a receiver. He could be as good as Witten if he wanted to, dude has all the potential in the world. Jennings is as fast as they come. He definitely will be a good safety. I honestly could see osborne getting the other corner job. Dude has wonderful technique for someone coming out of high school. That will definitely be a competition to watch. Moseley should be about 3rd string next year ( praise the lord).

I have a feeling that Croom to TE will likely be mostly out of concern for depth and a desire to get some mismatches in the passing game. I would be shocked if we line him up and use him the same way we use Wolf in the running game as a blocker.

Croom - Right. Jennings - Right. Foreman - Wrong!!

We lose McNeil and Randolph. Im thinking the starting safeties next year will be Gaulden and TK. Im sure Evan will get alot of playing time there also. We def need depth at safety. Losing Randy and McNeil will sting!

Gaulden is the nickelback. Starting safeties will be TK and Stephen Griffin.

Griffin is the best safety on the team IMO. Best blend of athleticism and insticts. TK is more instinctual but less athletic. Evan is more athletic but less instinctual.

Jennings has the highest ceiling but I think he plays as the third safety next year.

Ellis graduates, won't be on the roster. Wolf's brother Eli weighs 215 lbs. and he, Creamer and Jakob had zero catches this year. I think we're very far from set at TE in terms of depth. Sure wish Helm had stayed.

We definitely agree about situation at safety. Hope Nigel Warrior comes aboard in February. Many have said he has a great chance to start day one.

Highly unlikely unless we get some bad luck with injuries. Stephen Griffin is vastly underrated around here. I don't think yall realize how special he is. Elite talent with potentially the highest ceiling of any safety on the roster.

Doug Mathews thinks Jennings would start at safety ahead of TK and Gaulden if he moves to safety.

I'd personally love to see Jennings and Griffin start at safety. They both have elite NFL caliber talent.

However, TK has put in the time so I expect him to start. But don't be surprised to see a 3 man rotation at safety with Griffin/Jennings/TK. And maybe a 4 man rotation if we land Warrior.

I'd personally move Evan to RB/Slot WR. I don't think he's a safety.

I like both Jennings and Griffin too, but I think you're selling TK Jr a little short. The guy is an excellent athlete in his own right and a great playmaker.

I could see Jennings excelling at safety. I can also see Jennings excelling at receiver, especially after a season playing receiver. I think it could be hard on Jennings to move and learn another position and he is, unquestionably, a stellar, versatile athlete. The word on Jennings during his recruitment was he had decent player college potential at QB and NFL potential at safety (and maybe receiver). Personally, I think the coaches gauge his abilities at safety during the spring while also working him at receiver. If we get Warrior and Osborne sticks, I think we see Martin at one CB, Gaulden at the NB, Moseley, Abernathy, Osborne, etc, fighting for the other CB, and TK, Jr., Berry, Griffin, and Warrior fighting it out for the two safety spots. In that scenario, I think Jennings sticks at receiver unless he is truly the best safety on the team. Without Warrior, I think the Jennings move to safety is more likely. Yet, if Jennings is moved to safety, our receiver depth takes a big, big hit. Maybe he could play both ways but that would be a tough assignment, particularly when he could be the best receiver next year.

Jennings is a natural safety. If he wants to play that position, he will earn one of the starting spots by the end of fall camp just like he did at WR.

Anyone heard anything about Cramer of Jakob's potential at TE? I thought both had been moved there.

I like griffin and have high hopes for him, but let's wait and see him play someone besides WCU or our backups before we anoint him.

A guy named David Martin was about like Croom. Drafted as a TE after playing WR for the Vols. The rest is + history. Croom reminds me of him somewhat.

Nobody seems to think much of Abernathy. He played a lot on defense during the 2nd half of the season, and seemed to do well. Not bad for a true FR.

Is he not an option to start at S if Berry does not lock down the other position?

You have no earthly idea how good Griffin is. Kid is big and athletic but nobody knows how high the kid's "ceiling" is, especially you.

I don't make stuff up like yourself. Everything I shared is information from Mathews who has routinely attends practices and speaks directly to Jones, Welton and the staff. When Mathews was discussing the safety situation for 2016 he mentioned Griffin in passing. He focused on Jennings switching over from WR and Gaulden. He didn't even mention TKJr as a starter, only said he'd be in the mix.

Stephen may wind up being an all-American, who knows (certainly not you), but for now, he's simply one of a handful of kids (including Warrior if he signs) who will be competing for a spot in the back end of the defense, and that's about it.

And btw, another source (Jayson Swain) who has direct ties/access to the staff has made the comment I wrote about Warrior starting day one if he comes aboard....so while you're sitting on your condescending high horse just pulling ish out of your arse, others of us are sharing information from credible sources...sources that have no idea who the hell you even are.

No, I'm all good. Just tired of the BS from a guy who knows no more first hand than anybody else on here. I'm actually positive about Griffin, but for D4H to come on here and once again condescend to everybody about what he "knows"...it's annoying as hell. Especially when I'm being condescended to by a no-nothing after sharing information from guys actually locked in firsthand to the program.
