I would strip and run around naked in the streets if we got Schoolkraft to campus.... that kid has Cags 2.0 written all over himnewest diamondvols podcast was a banger.
Joe Doyle thinks Clay Edmondson and Estrada make it to school. Also said Vitello will be able to pay peebles, bargo, or Chapman enough money to come back to school if he really wants to.
Also said there’s a 15-20% chance that both Schoolcraft and Appenzeller make it to campus![]()
Yes seems like he’s either been on campus or they’re trying to get him to from what I’ve seen. He seems to be the name at the top of their infield list as of now. Not a big power bat but could add another contact option to the middle infield.Read somewhere that we are recruiting Finley Bates. A SS/2B from SDSU. Any truth to this?
He hit 4 home runs last year, but SDSU’s field is MASSIVE. I could see him being a Liam Spence type of hitter for us.Yes seems like he’s either been on campus or they’re trying to get him to from what I’ve seen. Regardless of the fact of not being able to pull out of draft, I would take Arvidson hands down. Wish them both well but Arvidson would be a huge difference maker. If someone was pulling their name from draft who would y'all prefer it be? I would say Arvidson or Bargo is who I would want the most back another year.
I understand that but I was more referencing what is the current trend of high schoolers (William Schmidt last year) as well as the trio from Texas yesterday effectively pulling their name out of the draft. I recognize there is no formal process for this, but if you make it known publicly that you will be attending school, there will not be a team that will draft you at the adequate slot value expected, effectively pulling your name out of the draft. This has become a lot more common since the draft format changed a few years ago. There is no removing your name from the draft in baseball. They can draft any person eligible age/grade-wise they choose. You do not sign up for the draft like basketball or football. So you do sign up or remove your name. There have been guys drafted in the past that had no intentions of going.
The articles and tweets were based on a radio interview he did. Obviously the tweets were sensationalized. He was talking about how busy they've been as a staff dealing with the new landscape of college baseball, and one of the things he mentioned was keeping the roster together and how there is a school in the league that has been offering guys on Tennessee's roster.I saw somewhere a headline with Tony V. accusing an SEC school of illegal portal tactics concerning our players. Anybody know anything on this?
This isn't accurate. There is a formal process of making yourself ineligible to be drafted. According to JJ Cooper at Baseball America, it happens about 5-6 times a year. This year seems to have an uptick. There is no removing your name from the draft in baseball. They can draft any person eligible age/grade-wise they choose.
