Indeed. Sharp was injured his true freshman season and I think he is poised to have a breakout season in 2026 wherever he lands. He has a great left handed swing and I like him as a southpaw reliever as well. If he puts on 15 more lbs, he will be formidable.Agree on Sharp...hes the biggest loss of that bunch for the reasons you mentioned. With a 34 roster limit, guys who can play 2 -ways are uber-valuable.
I get what you're saying and don't necessarily disagree. We did at least play and beat Arizona in the non-conference and they are a CWS team. Rice and Oklahoma St. appeared to be somewhat challenging before the season started. I wouldn't be opposed to adding a few more of those type games or even a series, though.Fine by me. We need testing/seasoning.... whatever you want to call it. Frankly, I think we need to take a page from hoops and schedule better opponents in the preconference portion of the schedule. This year's early schedule looked good on paper, but it did us no favors in getting us ready for the grind that was to come.
I'd like to see a better non conference opponent for my sake. I guess we just don't want to give up home games for a return series, but there's got to be some better name teams that will come in for a weekend than what we get.Our non conference SOS was much better last year. Bowling Green was RPI 101 in a 3 game series, and Illinois was 43. Also played a midweek game against a ranked Kansas State. I’ve been advocating to at least host a P4 northern team for a 3 game series. They will end the season being a top 75-100 team based on schedule. Playing a midmajor series against a 200+ RPI team for our third home series does not help.
I don’t know that it had any influence whatsoever, but our program is now so good that we can play a series against a midtier Big Ten or Big 12 team and be just fine.
I know I fall Into this category. As I look at the numbers, Hunley was actually pretty productive this year. Several high leverage situations. Just didn’t get many chances. Combs struggled some but had a few good outings too. Hate to see Hunley go but he will land somewhere soon I’m sure.I think we all may have had too high of expectations on him and Baby Combs based on what their brothers had done for the program in the past... I'm guilty of that for sure
Feels like the pitching transfers that leave Vandy don't pan out very often, whereas the hitting transfers ended up doing much better elsewhere (Kozeal at Arkansas being the most immediate one that comes to mind)Based on how Smith pitched Corbin was happy to get rid of him. That dude could not find the zone when he was here.
I’m not sure I’d take anyone that went to Vandy. I would severely question their judgment for choosing to play for Corbin and the VandyBoysFeels like the pitching transfers that leave Vandy don't pan out very often, whereas the hitting transfers ended up doing much better elsewhere (Kozeal at Arkansas being the most immediate one that comes to mind)
I need to have this surgery.....I have had double jaw surgery before. Wiggins is probably going to spend at least the fall if not winter and spring putting back on weight. I lost 50lbs in the 2 months after surgery. That doesn’t take into account what he might lose with the implant surgery after. He also might have issues with sinus inflammation that affect his breathing for the next year or so depending on where they had to place screws to hold the bones together.
