He dealt with a few different injuries this year. And the Virginia team as a whole just had an awful year despite being very talented.

He was their Friday night guy in 2024 for their Omaha team. Had a great performance in Omaha too.

His freshman year he was a good BP arm for them too

Last year was really the outlier

okay so out weekend pitching is Kuhns, Blanco, Krenzel, Mack, Fredrickson, Rhudy. With seibert, Brown and Newman all contributing here and there. Knowing That out of our 6 Draft Risk pitchers, Arvidsson, Matt Barr, appenzeller, Stoolcraft, Mason Estrada and clay edmundson who do you want to make it to campus. If you get 4 of this guys than were cooking

I think Seibert will produce a whole lot more than people realize. Same frame as Schoolcraft and his stuff out of high school was the best in the class, but injuries made him fall.

Clark could make a big jump catching in the offseason. He has been catching a good bit in the cape. Also, Garrett Wright has caught, played in the outfield, and has even played some 3rd this summer. He will be very versatile.
All really good points. I’m not sleeping on Lawless being the #1 C next season.

Blanco will be great here. Tony and the staff really know how to evaluate these guys. Sometimes adversity, physically or mentally, can lead to a bad season (ie. Doyle’s high ERA at Ole Miss). Here is a game from a few days ago in the Cape Cod League. A solid 5 innings of work. You can really see the high level stuff and potential even though he struggled with command at times:

What’s the new 247 article about ? What other pitcher visited ? Any idea of who else they are looking at?

If we're done in middle infield and Blanco commits, this is my guess unless we pull off a stunner with Schoolcraft or Appenzeller.

Thoughts? Who am I missing?

Disclaimer: I know nothing
I’m of the opinion that Abernathy will play in the outfield. Playing 2nd base neutralizes his speed advantage, at least to a degree. He also has a huge arm as he showed in Houston where he made a major league level play cutting down a runner at the plate.

I have absolutely no knowledge about it whatsoever but I do wonder if Levi Clark is going to be good with being the DH for another year.
A player with his all-around ability wants to play “full-time,” so to speak. If I was him, I wouldn’t want to have 15 minutes of game action each game. I think he plays defensively, as well.

Would be interested to see who is on their list at middle infielder because there is not a ton of top guys out there. Also wonder if they view Blanco as a weekend guy or long-reliever/spot starter like Arvidson this year.
Arvidson was brought in with the idea that he would be able to win a starting role. It was his to win or lose. He struggled with control issues for a big part of the year, thus relegating him to relief. His stuff is outstanding, as we all saw the last 3 weeks of the season.
