Pope: There Is No Hell

We'd all be concerned. But we have no way of knowing how God may be dealing with that person. The Bible even speaks of believer sinning unto death and the elect being deceived.

Regarding your addiction? Do you think u deserve salvation because you overcame alcoholism? What about the one who still struggles. Do you deserve salvation and they don't?

According to 95, you shouldnt even struggle. Why was it hard?

You sir are a liar! I never said there wasn't a struggle. Just there is deliverance.

I understand it just fine, I said that a social drinker is as kin to a drunkard as a little piglet is to a hog. I said that a believer can take a drink if he wants to but will face the chastisement of God if he chooses to do so. If he is not chastened for the social drinking he is not a child of God. Drinking alcohol is sinful anyway you slice it.
As for my so called legalistic view of scriptures I think you are a bleeding heart liberal that probably needs a good dose of Holy Ghost salvation. I have given you sound scripture and you refuse to believe it and twist everything I say to fit your distorted view of the bible. You clearly do not understand what it means to be born again. You probably have a head knowledge of God but do not have him in your heart. Trying to make a lost person understand the new birth is like trying to explain colors to a blind man that has never seen the light of day. You can't possibly understand until you experience it.
I also made the claim that someone is born again they will have different actions in their life, they will be different in how they live and again you argued against that. If nothing changed in their life, they are still lost period. To teach otherwise is rank heresy!!!
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Revelation 21:8 (KJV)
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Why don't you go ahead and twist these scriptures as well?

Revelation 22:14-15 (KJV)
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Using your logic about drunkards, why don't you refute these lifestyles as well?

I dare you to try to say this isn't talking about heaven!!!!

I never got past the first paragraph and refuse to interact with you until you are honest. You LITERALLY made the argument that a true Christian would never have a beer in a Chilis, and if someone did that, it demonstrates that they are not a Christian. Remember... By your list, all liars will burn in hell. You'd better be careful.

Once you learn to be honest to your arguments, we can continue with my view on sin and sanctification. Remember... By your list, all liars will burn in hell. You'd better be careful.

I was referring to a real Christian being a Spirit filled believer, and a Spirit filled believer will never be caught in Chili's having a beer. :hi: A carnal believer maybe, but not a Spirit filled believer. There you go twisting again.

OC , Roust, do you believe it to be sin to smoke pot, or snort cocaine, or take meth in moderation?

Deliverance. I do think it means what you think it means.

Do atheists overcome addiction?
Muslims?
Agnostics?
Hindus?

If lost people can overcome sin, How much more someone with God living on the inside?

The old sin nature is still there and it still causes us to slip up. When that happens it grieves the Holy Spirit within us and our conscience is burdened. If a person is ableto live a life in perpetual sin and it doesn't bother their conscience, then I would be very concerned.

I can only speak for myself, but He absolutely delivered me from alcohol addiction. It was hard and painful, but it was only by His power that I was able to overcome it.

Me too. Drank every day for a Decade. Got saved in 2003, and was under conviction about the drinking. I didn't quit cold turkey, but it didn't take long at all. Today, I almost never even think about alcohol, and once a year, when on vacation, ibwill drink a few with my wife. When i come home, I am not tempted to drink. I shouldn't do it on vacation either...need to stop i guess.

Sadly, thru 2 spine surgeries in my late 30s I got addicted to pain pills. Should have seen that coming after the alcohol struggle, but I didn't. It nearly cost me my wife and my family...and that is with me still always paying the bills without fail. That sin drove a wedge between us, and I am still dealing with the consequences as we speak. Opiates are evil, evil drugs. Far more addictive than alcohol IMO. Ibwould advise anyone i cared at all about to never, ever, put 1 more pain pill in their body than they absolutely have to...doctors will destroy you if you let them. It's crazy

You remember that time I said that I refuse to interact with you until you stop lying and begin dealing in an intellectually honest manner?

Yah. Me too.

That makes me question if an instance (which is "a beer" in this case) prevents any of us from being a "spirit filled" believer.

I certainly can see this scenario as a true believer as well. Thanks Marcus for the great testimony. Apparently, there was an immediate difference in your life and God immediately started dealing with you concerning sin. This is biblical salvation as I see it.

Also, by your own testimony you are paying a price for your other addiction after salvation.

I tried to do some of the same things I did when I was lost that are sinful and immediately God dealt with me about it and I knew that I didn't want or need to head down that road. I had addiction as well and still had the withdrawals as any other addict and yet God helped me with it. He gave me power to overcome.

I don't think I deserve salvation at all. Nobody does.

And to why it was hard because of the nature of addiction. My body still craved that alcohol. It still does at times.

What's up with the name calling and insults in a Bible discussion???

"Liar!!!"

This is why We cant have nice things. Why would anyone want to come to Christ or church if its people are all about bickering and name calling?

Aren't we all brothers in Christ?

To disagree without being disagreeable ( a dbag) is the mark of high intellect and character. We need to respect each other as people even if we reject each other's ideas.

In short, if you dont have something nice to say, lurk like me. Better than Being a dbag to others while trying to represent our Lord and Savior.

If you are having a beer, you are definitely being carnal at that moment.

From a standpoint of earning it or gaining it by actions or deeds, given the understanding of God's holiness? Absolutely agree.

That is absolutely true. I've seen friends and family struggle with pill dependence. It has a powerful grip on a person's life

Thank you sir for the wise rebuke. I will try and take your good advise. :hi:

If you're breathing, you're being carnal at that moment. Being carnal and being spiritual cannot be mutually exclusive if you believe that human beings can be filled with the spirit.

We are incarnate.

I am in no place to rebuke anyone, promise you that. I am a sinner in need of a Savior, and nothing more. Not my place to judge you, or anyone else. There are some very well versed believers here though, and I enjoy reading everyone's interpretations of scripture. We just need to be civil in our discourse, whether agreement or disagreement.

For the record, I used to post a lot more in these threads. I learned that i couldn't do it well without getting upset and having a snarky attitude. So I quit posting much. OC nearly always sums up my take on things anyway, we have nearly identical beliefs. He is much better at keeping a level head than I am. I just use the other gifts the Lord gave me in service instead, and keep those things between Him and I...it works out much better that way.

Best wishes to you and yours
