One of the most often cited theories for why there was no American pope in the past was the fear that we as a country were too powerful and that the American pope would be beholden to America. Now do the math.

Yes. They have(had) been hesitant to elevate a Pope from a global power.

It’s been 1000 years since a Pope came from Britain.
It’s been 700 years since a Pope came from France.

Interestingly, I have also seen some Trump supporters that I know on Facebook praising him.

I am not really Catholic so I could care less. I do think they tried to Politicize Pope Francis too much (what I mean by that is the media would overreact to his comments a lot to get in the news. Once you went back and listened to his comments, it wasn't what the media made it out to be. Then again, they do that with everyone).

The idea that a Jewish person disagreeing with the Pope means she doesn’t follow God is an insanely ignorant thing to say. It’s the level of insight I’d expect if you let a preteen child post for you
