Why before the half did Fulmer sit on his time outs and not try to stop the clock. If he called one before the third down play he could have had 1:45 on the clock still with one in his back pocket to call if he needed to get the field goal unit on the field. This is poor clock management and another way Fulmer is coaching not to lose and to win. It would have been a good time to run the 2 min offense and good experience for Stephens

Still at least you tried. He still took 2 with him to the half. At least he would have used them and had a chance to score again

You don't use a TO until you have actually stopped someone. That is giving them a chance to score.

He took a T.O. then got the ball back and took a knee. What was the point of that?

Because we got a punt return. If we'd returned it to the 45-50-45 we would have tried something. Slinging the ball around with 40sec left and 75 yards to go isn't smart.

I couldn't understand at all why people were booing that decision. This is a team that is playing a very inexperienced QB, your O-line has been getting pushed around all game, and we all know about the fumble at Auburn the week before.

It would have been too risky an endeavor for a QB starting his first game, an O-line that may as well have only had 3 guys blocking, and almost no time.

Well, given Fulmer's dumb decision at the end of the game, I don't believe he was thinking about us screwing up at the half.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, going for it on 4th and 2 and the end instead of kicking the field goal to make it a 7 point game. If NIU had scored, game over.

How was that a dumb decision? If you go for a field goal and it gets blocked and ran back then you lose. They were up by 4 so NIU had to score a TD and they got the ball back with about 15 seconds left and had to go almost 80 yards to do it.

That is less likely to happen than NIU getting a lucky hail mary to win.

A hail mary from 80 yards away? Really? Plus if you kick a field goal and make it you give them the opportunity to return the kickoff.
