Tauren will start for the Panthers last Pre season game tonight. After being held out for the past two games due to a concussion the Panthers released the two RB's behind Poole and will start him tonight. He should see significant playing time as RB Jonathan Stewart has a severe ankle injury and of course they do not want to risk injury to RB De'angelo Williams prior to the regular season. Looks like Poole will make the team, there ya go all u UT naysayers!

probably won't actually make the team as they have stewart, williams, and tolbert, unless they put tolbert as a fullback. but if he does, great! still doesn't mean he was great last year.

Armond Smith hasn't been cut, and he looked pretty solid against the Jets. Poole has a good chance, but it's not over yet.

I think this game will be the audition for Poole and Smith.. Whoever has the better game makes the team.

This seems to be prevailing thought of management and the coaches. Tolbert will be FB with Williams/Stewart at RB and one more spot will be up for grabs for either Poole or Smith.

Maybe you are new... or maybe just a new ID to escape some past statements but you really need to go back a year and read some of the comments about Poole. In spite of what he did as a JR, many here were using phrases like "mediocre at best", "wouldn't start for any other SEC team", "no talent", etc.

I got blasted for simply saying that a "mediocre at best" RB could not run for 1000 yards in the SEC.

I hope the guy has a great NFL career... and doesn't hold grudges against a program and fanbase that didn't altogether appreciate what he gave of himself.

Starters rarely play the final Preseason game; it is usually a tryout for the guys the coaching staff is debating on cutting or keeping. I hope he makes it.

Don't forget he's not just competing amongst his own roster, he's competing against every RB that gets waived and there are always a few good ones.

He's doesn't play for UT, so I'm not sure how making another team affects us? The naysaying came because he was part of a terrible team. It seemed that TP was pretty decent other than being tackled by the carpet monster whenever a hole opened.

His problem was that his OL and blocking support was the worst I think I've seen in watching UT football for over 30 years. Barry Sanders could not have mustered a 1,000 yd season on our team last year.

Trust me, not new, just usually don't like to get into arguments on message boards. I know everyone hated on him last year, and that is what I was commenting towards. the OP said take that naysayers. the point I was making is that the naysayers had every right to say what they said, he wasn't good last year. What he is doing now has nothing to do with last year. I hope every ex-vol does great in the NFL. Poole is a great person, and wish him the best.

If Tauren Pool makes an NFL roster - that does not bode well for this years running game!!!!

He's going to be the next Arian Foster...

:birgits_giggle:

We are all pulling for him to make it, but this is a pipe dream. He's much more likely to make a team for his work on special teams more so than he will playing running back
