Poole Rumors

I hope Poole gets a chance to prove himself in the game this week. Hardesty is a little banged up and we shouldn't NEED him to carry the ball 15-20 times. If we had a QB, I think Poole and Oku would get most of the second half touches.

If Poole goes he goes there is nothing we can do about it..

But people need to realize that with the recruiting that this staff is going to bring in, your going to see talented players that never get the PT that YOU think they deserve.

When CLK came here everyone talked about how he was going to make UT just like USC. Meaning that the talent's not going to stop with the 1's your going to have guys on the bench that could start on any team in the country. The thing is they come here or to USC to compete against the best. They practice against the best and when someone goes down we have a back up just as talented. Example is Matt Castle, now a starting QB in the NFL and never started a game at USC.

I know its tough and I like Poole also but I trust this staff to put the best on the field. Now you also have CLK telling the nation that he is not afraid to play freshman so you will see JR and SR's getting beat out in the future.

Poole will do well wherever he goes if he goes. I know he gets to be on the field in different situations, like kickoff coverage and maybe another one or two, but it is not in the backfield. Maybe tomorrow he will see some more playing time.

Seriously guys ask yourselves these questions:

1)Will Poole ever be our starter if everyone is healthy?

2)Will Poole be better than Oku or T.Williams next year?

3)What type of unique skill set does Poole bring to the table that the younger backs don't have?

4)Also do you want a back in that really doesn't finish runs off like the other backs?

poole is a good back, 2 reasons he is not playing

1 not a senior and 2 not one of kiffin's guys

the only reason hardesty is ahead of bryce is cause he is a senior, if hardesty was a soph. brown would start

Brown right now--check the yards per carry. Brown may have a bright future--but he's not done much this year. I think Kiffin is overrating him because of his top-prospect status. Why else has he got a lot of reps from the get-go? He's not showed me much. I'm not saying Brown won't be good, but he's not been special thus far--that's a fact. He lost yardage in a key spot against florida--first and goal from the 12 or so--because he missed a big hole. Maybe Poole finds that hole. This idea that Brown is all that--right now--is wrong. And coaches make bad personnel decisions more often than fans realize. The proof is in the pudding: Kiffin has committed to Crompton and Brown, and they've not delivered.

Brown's hands are better than Hardesty's. Brown and Oku are both great receivers out of the backfield. IMO this is why Poole is 3rd behind Oku. Oku comes in on some occasions and catches a pass. More options when the two freshmen are in the backfield and the talent is too close not to pick Oku over Poole because of this.

You are way off base on that one. He seems to get every square inch he can.

how good is he?? to me he's about equal to BB, better than Oku at this point.......Kiffin probably is looking to the future, i'm not sure what he's doing.....

that guy was totally sick in spring and fall camp......he looked awesome against w. kentucky, and got very few reps........not fair at all.........Oku is not better than poole, and bb is about even......don't get it.......poole has great attitude too

Uh, no, not even close.

I like Poole, he runs hard and I wish he could get more touches but there are not enough footballs to go around for a 4 or 5 deep tailback rotation and talent wise he's at the back of the pack. I think the kid can play but he's not on Brown or Oku's level by any stretch of imagination.

I hope Poole stays, but if he thinks he's got better options out there, so be it. It would open up another slot for another recruit. If he really wants to get PT he needs to take his game to another level like Hardesty has this year.

Brown, Oku and T.Williams are the future. Poole needs to step it up if he wants to be part of it because it won't be getting any easier to find PT next year.

Poole may have stepped it up as far as he can. I don't know. I like the kid and I'm getting the feeling that he's been recruited over. He got his fair shot in the Spring and Fall and got beat out by two true freshmen. I think CEG can evaluate talent better than anyone else on this board.

We're a running football team but we don't get 100 plays a game to give Poole his due carries. He's a talented back but this would be even less surprising than Lennon Creer to me.

It's amazing how you find a way to bring up Crompton almost every time you post. Did he beat you up or something?

And about Brown...you can't really say that Kiffin has committed to Brown when Hardesty has seen more than twice as many carries as Brown.

i like him but dont think he is better than hardesty or brown,i just dont think these coaches would set him because hes not there guy.weve got alot of opinions out there i just dont think stephens and poole equal more wins i trust the staff.both of these guys have had lots of oppurtunities to prove themselves... kiffin said all starting jobs were open except eric berry. all they had to do was prove themselves
