that had NOTHING to do with winning a title? Maybe a play, maybe a certain game, maybe a recruit, maybe a hire? No titles were won, but it was very meaningful for UT football. Could have some interesting thoughts on this one.:good!:

I'd say it was probably the day they handed the head coaching job to General Neyland.

The addition of the Upperdeck to the stadium to make it 100,000 plus is also a nice one.

I'd say the utter beat down of Vinnie's Hurricane squad went a long way toward putting us back on the right track.

Forgive me for bringing up a negative moment, but, without looking at the records, I think the Vols' overall performance at Neyland has been down compared to performance on the road for a while now, and it can be traced back to the heartbreaking loss to UGA in 2001. On a positive note, last year's comeback win over UGA averted a potentially disastrous loss and will hopefully be viewed as a very positive turning point some day.

When ever the debacle in the swamp was, what was it, 95?

We were up 31-14 at the half and ended up losing 78,999,31 to 31.

In the spring of 1980, Coach Majors had to add four new assiatant coaches to the staff. The final addition was an offensive line coach named Phillip Fulmer. That hire is the reason we are in the craphole we are in right now.

Though I believe it eventually led to a NC, a defining moment was the 1st drive of the second half of the 97 Orange Bowl. Nebraska ran it down our throats (not to mention the middle of the field, over and over again) to show us what a NC program looked like.

Where I work one of the general managers is, and even this is a huge understatement, an awesome Hogs fan. If I had a nickle for every time I heard....''Hey Dan does it still hurt?!!!

The '82 Bama game was the biggest one in my life since I was born (1973) The Auburn '85 game, and the '86 Sugar Bowl (especially the '86 Sugar Bowl) really got us gaining respect again since the early 70's. The '87 year was a good one, a man lived on top of a billboard in '88, then in '89 we started playing pretty well. Of course '98 was the pinnacle, but I miss the way we played from '89 through the late '90's. The early part of this century wasn't that bad, but we've been losing Peach Bowls way too often. We still won 10 games in '03 and '04, but we aren't the same team. There's no swagger anymore. I want to see more swagger and confidence. Teams don't fear us, frankly because there's nothing to fear.

I was born and raised in Arkansas and hate them. I became a huge Vol fan when we played Arkansas in the cotton bowl in 1990 (i believe that was the year). I might as well scream wal-mart sucks through a trailer park because of the Power T on the hitch cover and the license plate. One particular person I work with lives and breaths Arkansas. On a positive note, i can always mention the drama from the head coach which usually shuts them up for a couple of days, but again that is the same as going through a trailer park yelling wal-mart sucks. They don't like "traders" or haters making comments about the only show in the state. Sucks to be an Arkansas fan. Go Vols!
