Alright, it remains a top 25 matchup this weekend. That's good.

And our move up to #12 is just attrition: #10 FSU, #12 LSU, and #14 Clemson all lose and drop, we (and those around us) take three steps forward.

Go Vols!

p.s. 4 of the top 5 are SEC, and 12 of the top 14 are either SEC or B10 (7 SEC, 5 B10). It's the brave new world with just 2 superpowers.

p.p.s. A prediction--everything else being equal*, if we beat NC State by double digits this weekend, we'll be in the Top 10 next Monday. Probably leapfrog Mizzou and Utah even if they win. If we beat the Wolfpack convincingly, like 24+ points, we'll be in the top 8, also leapfrogging some combination of Oregon, Michigan, and Utah.

Three good chances for upsets among the teams ahead of us: Texas-Michigan, someone's gotta lose ... Utah-Baylor, the latter might have something left in the tank from their glory years? ... and keep an eye on Bama-USF. I'm just saying, something could happen.

* meaning all the other teams above us win their games about as expected.

Still think we should be ahead of utah right now, but it's exactly like I said it last week when the first edition of the coaches' poll came out...you could take ony of those schools from 11 to 15 and pretty much rank them anywhere in that area.

We proved that we are the best in that 11 to 15 section in week 1.
Week 2 plays out and we beat NcSt, should be in the Top 10.

Georgia picked up 5 more 1st votes. USC up 9 spots. Not sure a W over a FCS team is really a mover. I worry that playing FCS team might affect 12-T PO decision making.

We dropped in Brett’s AP vote
Brett: I have the Volunteers now at #17.
Reporter: Why'd you drop a team that scored 69 points, Brett?
Brett: It's really not that I dropped them, I just lifted a couple of other teams above them.
Reporter: Well why in the hell would you do that?
Brett: ...

Go Vols!

Correction? Nah. I just believe with the strength of schedule of the SEC, a 10-2 team will be in there. Now, if there's 5-6 SEC teams with a 10-2 record, and that's certainly possible, then under that scenario a 10-2 team will be left out.
But what if Florida St. wins out, don't they deserve to get in too? 🤣

? ... and keep an eye on Bama-USF. I'm just saying, something could happen.
Most of us don't really have the words "Roll Tide" rolling off our tongues. I sense a little of the same here. Alex Golesh gave Saban a run last time. You'd never know it talking to a Bama fan (We had this all along), but I know they were sweating it out in that second half last time they played. And remember, He was feeding Hooker the plays as OC in the 52-49 butt whipping (yes, it was close, but a W against Bama is a butt whipping).

Now Bama has a new coach so that might be the wild card. I promise, USF has had this one penciled in all through training camp. I'm not sure how much talent they lost, and from a talent level, Bama has the nod, so you never know. I'd give 'em about a 30% chance.

Take about 8 mins to relive it.
