It's just so hard to wrap my mind around.
How can the coach that put that defense on the field and had the team playing like I haven't seen in years be the same guy who called the last 10 minutes of the 3rd and 4th.

He could still lead us to a 10-2 record this year if the first half team plays every game.

He could still lead us to 7-5 too if he coaches like the 2nd half.

If the players execute then the coaches are brilliant.

Otherwise they're morons.

Is that how this works?

I stand behind our team, 100%. The talent is there, that is pretty clear. I blame the loss last night totally on the staff, they owe their players an apology. Butch demands accountability for his players, well what about for himself and his staff? It is not the loss that makes me lose faith in him, but the way we lost. Coached totally scared, and called plays not to lose. Pitiful. 4th and inches and the message to the team and fans was, "we can't use our 240lb elite RB 3 times from there and get 7. Incredible.

I view his status like this: He has 2 strikes against him. (FLA last year and OK this year, the staff blew both games). He can earn a strike back by doing something great like winning the east. But as far as I am concerned he is on 2 strikes for now. If he coaches scared again and we lose to FLA, I will be totally on the side of getting rid of him. Why delay the inevitable?

I am worried. His mentality is to coach scared in big games. That philosophy doesn't change. I really hope I am wrong, ad he wins big here...but I am worried, very worried

I went with "all in". Not because I am convinced that he is a championship coach, I'm definitely on the fence about that. But right now,I want a rebuild to be completed before we have any discussion of coaching changes.

I have no doubt that he is putting the pieces in place to be a championship team.
Once that is accomplished, action can be taken if necessary.

100% behind this staff. Many here well forget recent history and the status of things in the Dooley era. This will be a long process and with our recent recruiting classes, we are expediting that process. Few coaches could have that kind of short term impact and could be re-building in the way he has been and is. There is a lot of ridiculous overreaction to a close overtime loss to a ranked perennial powerhouse program. As frustrating and painful as last night was to blow a lead late, we are definitely moving in the right direction and will contend soon. We are starting to contend on a high level and have to learn to close out games. To make any coaching change here would be utterly stupid and short of hiring Saban, Myer, Patterson would set the program back years. They aren't coming. Butch stepped in when others balked. Last night came down to Jumper's inexperience, Dobbs' inaccuracy, the weak side of the O line and key absences due to injury. They will get better and we have to stay relatively healthy. We will rebound and will compete likely for an 8-9 win season.

Dooley, Jumper, Maggit's injury, Preston's ACT score, Nike and "Process", have absolutely ZERO to do with taking a FG on the 1, with Jalen Hurd in your backfield and running a hurry up offense in the 4th, with a 14 point lead.

Faith in Butch, think he blew the OC hire and needs to fix it quick.
If he doesn't, then faith will be lost on Butch.

I'm still on the fence. I will believe he is the real deal when we start winning big games against top 25 teams. If we lose to Florida in 2 weeks, I will begin to havre serious doubts as to whether Butch will ever get the job done. We should have won yesterday, but I think OU may actually be a really good team this year. Florida has the worst talent that they have had in years. A loss to them will be inexcusable. A win over Florida with no other big wins wills still leave me on the fence as Florida is not a good enough team to be considered a big win IMO. A win over Florida and either Bama or Georgia will have me believing that Butch is going to be a great coach, and that his poor coaching performances in the 2013 Vandy game, the 2014 Florida game, and yesterday were mere anomolies. Here's hoping that our team puts this loss behind them for a great season.

I feel that this loss is 100% on Jones and this staff. Having said that he still has my support. This team is light years better than we were under the previous coaching staff.

Stick with Jones. He hs a great coach that could do great things with TENN. We know how you feel after the game. Lst year we were up 14-3 on Baylor then ended up getting run out of our own stadium. Then there were the late Pick-6's that lost the games against TCU and K-State.

The Vols are going to do good things this year. Build and learn from this, which is something we didnt do last year.

I'll be rooting for the Vols to storm through the east beating bama along the way,

I'm still ALL IN with CBJ....He's still a very young coach on the biggest stage in College football--the SEC.....

I think that he's done everything right in UNITING VOLNATION....as much as this loss to OU hurts--it's just a bee sting compared to the upcoming SEC schedule.

However, this is the same fiasco that we saw last year against Fla....up by two scores, play conservative, protect the ball....I don't know if he thinks that approach was the General's--but it wasn't.

CBJ is great at so many things--and I thought the old coach Debord as an OC would help him grow out of a "protecting a lead mentality"--

I hate the tempo offense--but if we gonna run it--then run it all the way and keep putting points on the board to take the fight out of your opponent--and we didn't do that last night!

GO VOLS! :salute:
