Why didn't he learn it after UF last year?

I thought the same when I typed that. I think last year against Florida he truly though FL was so hapless that they couldn't muster a comeback. If they hadn't brought out the dreaded back up QB they wouldn't have.

Also I first posted this in Maxiums ...

"In Butch we trust;" and I think coaches have to learn to win also. I am just a Vol fan for 63 yrs but....The FG @ the 1? Was not saying "we;re going to beat your a$$ tonight!"

I think Butch will be a great coach for TN, like he is a great "program builder" now. MHO

" Oh the growing pains of youth, are heartbreaking, " maturation."

I wonder how many of the 52% will support Butch unconditionally if we lose to FL next week. I bet that drops to about 35%.

I hope he learned that last night otherwise we are going to be paying anothet buyout or dealing with the financial ramifications of not replacing him.

As of right now I am on the fence, I was expecting 8-4 this year, my expectations have not changed. Last night should have made our season 9-3, and I am seriously getting embarrassed about Tennessee lack of ability in finishing games

The truth of the matter is my opinion as a fan means less than nothing and in this scenario the only opinion that matters is Dave Harts

I (speaking to myself also) think it has been SOOO long since we had a quality win we are all starved for something good to happen. Granted we should have won the game but I think thats the reason it is so easy for us as fans to get mad and want change one way or the other. It has just been so long we dont think clearly.

The Florida game will determine which side of the fence I'll fall on.

We had a mouth piece with dooley always making excuses.
I broke my own rule by buying into the hype during the off season. I want to believe but I just can't, if there is not a sense of urgency next Saturday and I mean a killer attitude adjustment in QB, play calling and all around 360, we're done for. I feel this will be our worst season w/ the NEW OC

Just beat Florida and I am good. If you lose to Florida I am worried. Either way with the way he is bringing in talent I give him another year.

Both of the offensive huge breakdowns, UF last yr and OU last night, both at home with a checkerboarded stadium KILL me.

The time for moral victories is over.

Five years. That's his ticket... unless he loses to UF this year, in which case he will be "encouraged" to make staff changes he won't like. A loss in The Swamp will take a big bite out of his widespread support and he'll become an albatross.

100% behind this staff. Many here well forget recent history and the status of things in the Dooley era. This will be a long process and with our recent recruiting classes, we are expediting that process. Few coaches could have that kind of short term impact and could be re-building in the way he has been and is. There is a lot of ridiculous overreaction to a close overtime loss to a ranked perennial powerhouse program. As frustrating and painful as last night was to blow a lead late, we are definitely moving in the right direction and will contend soon. We are starting to contend on a high level and have to learn to close out games. To make any coaching change here would be utterly stupid and short of hiring Saban, Myer, Patterson would set the program back years. They aren't coming. Butch stepped in when others balked. Last night came down to Jumper's inexperience, Dobbs' inaccuracy, the weak side of the O line and key absences due to injury. They will get better and we have to stay relatively healthy. We will rebound and will compete likely for an 8-9 win season.

One TD in almost 3 quarters and two overtimes doesn't "cut it".
You can't explain away the obvious pattern of playing not to lose with how awful we used to be.
