While he wasn't top of my initial list, after the way Haslam and Currie screwed the pooch, Fulmer got the best guy he could. I think that Pruitt is more Kirby Smart than Derek Dooley, but could be wrong. We will see.

Can't believe this dude was hired over these coaches:

Miles, Leach, Sumlin or Kiffin

Just purely the laughing stock of college football.

Lol. This was an outstanding hire and righted the ship. We were a laughingstock prior to last week when Pruitt was named, during the whole Currie/Haslam/Davenport fiasco. Now that one of the top coordinators and recruiters in the country has been hired and is putting together an outstanding staff, its much more truthful to say that respect and potentially even fear of our program has replaced “laughingstock”...you need to get up to speed.

As far your list....the game has passed Miles by, nobody else is hiring him either....Leach’s offense and pressers would’ve been fun, but he wasn’t a good match.....Sumlin would’ve been a good hire, but declined to even interview....and Kiffin....are you kidding, have some pride and self-respect man.

Miles is the only one on that list that I would have taken besides Pruitt. Everyone clamoring for Lane have zero self awareness. That guy f**ked us, has acted like an ass, he has no business ever stepping foot on campus ever again. Sumlin wouldn't have been a terrible idea but I would rather have Pruitt to be honest. Pruitt's defense background is enough for me to give him the nod over Sumlin.

I'm happy for Pruitt if he really wants the job which I guess he does. I think the program got about what it deserves and what is in line with its low level of prestige. Working from scratch he may be able to build something of note here. Do I sound happy about the hire? I don't think "happy" was ever in the cards for fans who want to see the team compete for playoff spots.

101 people don't get it

I was one of those 101. The poll was up pretty early. But after considering he has been in football since birth, worked with only the top elite coaches, assembled a good staff, and hasn’t done or said anything stupid, I would change my vote to very happy so far. The lack of experience considering the available coaches out there in the beginning was a disappointment at first, but I like him more and more everyday. I bet others that voted no feel the same as I do.

The fact that he has been a Bama fan his entire life doesn’t even bother me as much as it did before. I do hope he has added some big orange stuff to his twitter account though.

I voted no and it hasn't changed. After the past decade, it was going to take a home run hire for me to take it on faith that the new head coach would be any different than the last couple. CJP may turn out to be great and he may not. I'm going to have to see that in-demand assistant coaches will actually sign contracts to come work for CJP, not just hear rumors about who might be on staff. I'm going to have to see CJP sign elite recruits at UTK, not just read about who he signed at FSU, UGA, and Bama. I'll also have to see that CJP can manage a team on gameday and deliver Ws.

I haven’t bought a “just Pruitt” shirt but so far I like what I see. Time will tell. While we’re waiting I can remain respectful, positive, and objective. I don’t get the mentality of wanting a coach to fail because he wasn’t your guy. I’m not sure who the “home run” coach was supposed to be. Of the lists I’ve seen none left the school they where at (yet) but assuming no one else wanted them I don’t consider them any higher than CJP. We have to accept the reality of our program. Kind of like admitting your kid is stupid or ugly, it hurts man. If I had a son, I’d be thrilled to have him play for CJP. Until he does something to make me think differently I can support him.
