Have you not learned from some of your mistakes, Blackburn? I know I have. Kiffin, as I recall, randomly showed up in classes to make sure our players were in attendance (Eric Berry?). Just because Kiffin made some personal mistakes does not mean he is not a 'good person' as you say. Give the petty crap a break and let's hire a winner back to UT! Lighten up, Francis. :hi:

Bring him on. There will be controversy, but Tennessee football will again be exciting - on and off the field. I'm sick of bad and dull football at UT.

Never. And the man will not unite this fan base. For some (myself included) he is the most despised coach in college football. Another mediocre hire is what we're most likely to get but I will support whoever that is more than I would Kiffin. He's a scumbag and isn't even a proven head coach which some here seem to think. If he were hired I would support the kids playing for him but could not support a smartazs like him who tweets like a smarmy 12 year old and has mocked us throughout this process. Maybe he'll grow up someday. But that day hasn't come.

Acting like a child on twitter when you've got the childish history of Kiffin matters to some people. In most professions that would be considered a character flaw. I tend to think it is in this case too. That's why he is where he is.

Well I agree there must be some morons in charge. That's why we're in this position. I just don't think Kiffin is the answer. And I remember him being one of the causes of this downward spiral. I'm not an insider and never claimed to be I just don't think it makes logical sense to attempt to hire the guy that helped start this nightmare after the backlash of Currie's first attempt at hiring a HC.

The guy left for his dream job. End of story. The only chance to get this right is with a splash hire. That's Kiffin. I love Tee but he's not ready and will be our Mike Shula. There is one guy left and potentially willing, ßave this dying program and get him. Kiffin leaving was about his improving himself. Swallow some pride and let's kick some a $$.

I agree about Tee. I'd be happy with him but worry he'd have trouble with the quick transition to HC in the SEC. My opinion on Kiffin aside, if he is hired and succeeds I will be happy because I love Tennessee. But I fear he may leave as soon as he has success again. The only chance we have for him to pay off is if he comes here and succeeds and has changed his priorities. Maybe there's a chance he would like to have a shot at Saban and Smart and Mullen every year and that makes us a dream job for him now. No matter what I want the same thing you do: Championships.

Lane Kiffin has 3 undefeated seasons of watching how to beat Saban. His hire would be like drawing an inside straight. Talk about rocking Tennessee football and filling the stadium, nobody else comes close!!!

I think Bama lost a game every year he was there so not undefeated. And he was there for 1 NC if I remember correctly. But he may have a healthy dislike for Saban now so that's a plus.

Petition to hire Coach Venables from Clemson.

He's WON a National Championship against Bama.

He's been recruiting the same areas and same kids we go after for several years so he'll already know lots of the kids we want.

As long as we give him plenty of $$$$ to go hire great coaches/recruiters we'll be fine.

He'll also get our D back together much faster.

D just happens to WIN Championships.

If we're going to petition and scream to hire someone then Venables is who we should be after.

He has the right approach to players and they give their all for him. He is an excellent offensive mind that produces offenses that score points. A great game planner usually can take a less talented teams and stay in the game with much better talent. He knows what Assistants to hire and expectations they have to meet. He can recruit.

Negatives can be a little arrogant. He sometimes says stupid things.
