I dont think it can be stated or appreciated enough the fact that a hand full of coaches have turned us down and a former national title winning coach wants to be here and is apparently motivated to get back into the SEC fire.

Looks to me like a couple of those who turned us down might not have had much interest in running with the big boys.

There's more than one good football coach in this world but it feels good to know we've got a damn good one to fall back on in Miles.

Miles with Tee in waiting and Fulmer as AD after what we've been through is a straight gift from the Lord.

And that gift is like herpes and will doom the program. More is Less with Les.

You are what your record says you are. Spin it however you like. Most agreed on here that Schiano has a mediocre coaching record. And he does. Leach's is mediocre at WSU.

Considering Les had all the talent in the world, he often blew it with his bad offense. Offense is suppose to be his strong point.

Leach is known for turning around programs.
Also Miles got caught having a bonus program at OK St. Which if they played well they got extra $$$ ,yes extra, as well as not achieving academic standards but yet still playing those payers.

Vols needs someone who can win with less not
"underachieve" lose with more.
Are we forgetting Dooley had Les beat if he could manage a game.

I voted Miles but would like Leach. However, we don't need any, any, any, and any potential further controversy right now. Nobody who might or has a hint of history of creating negative perceptions of the UT. Miles is a safer bet to be more moral, stable and overall likeable. Not to mention the whole CFB world on edge to see what his return to the SEC results will be. Further, there's a serious likelihood some really good Lousiana recruits will want to play for this unorthodox former Tiger. I would want him to bring in a proven QB developer because under Miles he got less from QBs than she should have. Sort of Butcheran results when it came to QBs. Otherwise him over Leach but only in terms of what the UT really needs right now.

I wouldn't kick either one out of bed for eating crackers. Between the two, Leach gets the edge, as I really think you have to have an offense with a pulse to win in today's game not just defense. However, that does not mean defense can go completely by the wayside either.

To me the only way Miles would really work is if the dream scenario became reality and he was brought in to be the mentor to Tee and Steele, one of whom is head coach in waiting. His defenses were great, but any offense with a pulse would make games instantly harder to win, and with the other two big teams having those, he can't just load up on running backs and pray like he did at LSU (which didn't work very well there either). He'd still win a bunch of games though, just probably woudn't be the funnest to watch.

Irrelevant. It won games. Put Leach's record up against Miles. Its not even comparable.

Whats Leach done at WSU? Nothing.
Also irrelevant. Leach never had the roster Miles had in a recruiting hotbed like Louisiana. Leach has been just as impressive at small schools with little resources as Mullen was at Miss St. Mullen supporters always respond "but they were ranked number one!" They didn't end the season there though. I'm not saying Mullen is a bad coach but Leach is just as good. He just isn't boring enough for some Vol fans.

Have to go with Les.

For everyone who thinks the game passed him by I’ll say this.

The key to winning in the sec is still the same as it was 50yrs ago. Be able to run and stop the run.

Miles had Leonard Fournette and couldn't run the ball so what's the point?

Rather have Les Miles over Leach. However, I do NOT want Les if his hire means we are getting Tee as OC.

Les got fired in large part due to QB play.

Tee is an OC, but his position is WR Coach as well.

He only gets to call plays on first and second down......

The though of having an OC that isn't a coaching QB's is concerning....

We have a 5 star QB on the roster with 3 years left of eligibility. The OC needs to be coaching QB's.

Tee calls the plays. Stop repeating that lie.

Tee has been a qb coach in college and is known to be a great qb coach. He even ran one of those qb consultation/training businesses.

Maybe you should do some fact checking. In his final three seasons LSU finished 29, 23, and 7 in rushing. And finish 35, 46, and 17 in rush defense.

For comparison Wash St’s best finish is a 40 in rush defense.

SMH, Wow, how the uninformed have skewed views. Which also brings up all these Kiffin supporters that would want Tee as OC, SMH again. If they would stop and think, Kiffin calls the offense so Tee would just be a position coach so that analysis is dumbfounded.

Interesting that it's almost a 50/50 split. Those siting Miles time at OSU, they were a horrible program when Miles got there, 3-8 when he tooo over, and got them to 9-3 by the end if his 3rd year. He actually elevated the program for wheb Gundy took over.
