if I was Miles I would not accept the position if the AD is going to tell me who my staff has to be, but yet hold me accountable for the program. That's crazy!

I agree and that's why I don't understand why this kind of rumor is floating around. I just can fathom a potential HC hire having his hands tied regarding his own staff.

Les Miles recruited at a Top 5 level, consistently. Year after year after year. All of that added up to 2 conference titles in 12 years.

Realistically, what happens when he only has Top 10 or *gasp* Top 15 level talent?

Some people fall for flash over substance every time. Les is proven, solid, and a winner in the toughest division in football. Give me a tough defensive minded coach any day of the week.

Les Miles can't develop a QB, that is his only weakness, but that is huge weakness.

I just wonder how Leach would do at a school with the facilities like UT has. He could actually be very successful in the SEC here.

Les Miles, like Fulmer, is old school.
We can't keep up with the big boys in the conference playing old school football.
I'll take Leach.
Or Fuente.

Ok, I can see how this is such a tough choice now.

Leach (certified nut case)

38-37 at his current job
122-80 overall (60% win rate)
1 Big 12 SOUTH title
6-6 bowl record

Les Miles (crazy SOB that eats grass but not certified)

141-55 (72% win rate)
8-6 bowl record
1 National championship
2 SEC championships
3 SEC western division championships

Yeah, I can see how this could be a tough choice.

Miles, but only if Tee is OC/HCIW. (If it is strictly only a choice between Miles and Leach...not really a huge Miles fan, but this is where we are at after the debacle) Leach offense fun to watch, but no defense and don't see his personality fitting in East Tennessee or the SEC.

This. We don't have a shot at the great white whale but miles is a huge upgrade over anything we have had since fulmer.

I do like Leach, but the recruiting ties and direct experience coaching in the SEC and against the SEC is the difference maker.

As a side note, I made the assumption that Tee is OC and Steele at DC.
