Dude...I'm not sure if you're just pulling my leg here, or what. If you really have "been around quite a bit" then you probably shouldn't be so sensitive. Nothing I said was personally directed at you. We're just disagreeing about Kiffin. No one was lecturing anyone and the fact that Kiffin was a grown man the first time he was here is just an immutable fact. Nothing "silly" about pointing that out.

Anyway, my biggest complaint about Kiffin is that he has just not proven himself to be a very good coach. He may get better, but right now I just don't see why people are so enamored of him.
He's proven himself far more than Pruitt and it's not even close. I don't know that anyone is enamored with him. Most informed fans know we aren't going to go after the best of the best, so lots of fans think Kiffin might be the guy if/when we look for a new coach. Since we are certainly looking for the "up and comer" type who just needs a boost to the top level. Ole Miss is just a small step up the rung from Vandy. Comparing his record there vs. Pruitt's here isn't applicable in any sense, except that Ole Miss played Alabama far more competitively than we did

I just don't see it. I guess this will just have to be our agree to disagree moment.

What exactly has Kiffin done that makes some want him back so much? Winning CUSA at FAU?

And I'm not a "Pruitt is the guy" person; I'm jaded by the last 3 coaches so I refuse to declare anyone "the guy" until they prove it.

I know. The statute of limitations is based on the number of losses, not time. If we’re doing well then hell no we don’t want Kiffin back! If we’re throwing up 7+ losses suddenly he seems like a pretty good option. Not all think that way but there are some that do. I’m in the no camp myself. He’s about an 8-4 coach for his career and has been so at every stop. That’s not bad but that’s not what we want either it seems. I’d take Freeze before Kiffin.
Ah I see. You make good points. I think Kiffin v2.0 would at least bring an exciting brand of football to Knoxville. What is there to sell to recruits currently? "We were good 20 years ago..."

I really need him to prove he is a good HC in a P5 conference first. He is still unproven as far as I am concerned as a HC. OC? Yeah, he is an incredible OC. HC? Not ready to buy that yet.

Why do so many of our fans embarrass themselves with this Lane Kiffin BS? The guy has a losing record and you are slobbering all over him.

There are many other, better options.

Battered Vol Syndrome....

He loses 63-48, instead of 63-13. Simple enough?

Retain Pruitt as Defensive Coordinator, and bring in Lane as HFC and offensive coordinator?

I did not know that, as I do not follow Missouri, or coach Dooley. :p

Nay, and I say again, nay indeed. Kiffin dilacerated all that VFLs held dear with his boorish behavior. And forsooth, what has he ever accomplished? Let him turn elsewhither, I fear he has lost his charm.

Who is his HBC, the El Capitan of the ship, makes millions $$$...where the buck stops, you know...for THE LAST 3 YEARS.
But lets scapegoat an underachieving young athlete that WE recurited and Pruitt didn't recruit over.
Sheesh, JG's shortcomings have been evident for a long time.
It's like blaming the mule ya bought because YOU overloaded the cart.

(too many caps but I am too old n lazy to edit)

Pruitt deserves a ton of blame as well....he hired Tyson Helton who very clearly missed on Shrout and Maurer. JG has been trash since before Pruitt got here and Pruitt’s hire failed us in identifying and developing a replacement. No arguments there....

I do think we have his successor in Bailey, but it wouldn’t be reasonable to expect anything from him as he’s not only a true freshman he’s a true freshman who missed spring, summer AND fall camp. I say we run with him and let him gain experience but expectations should be low. If he can sustain a drive for longer than 3 plays and keep the defense off the field the whole game it’s an improvement.

Would love to have him back..............he left at an immature time in his life for , "my dream job." If we were all honest we probably would have done exactly the same thing !!! Including myself. Would take him today, no questions asked. He is a winner and his offense is totally unbelievable. Nobody in their right mind can say his offense is almost impossible to stop.

How many years before you would have him on our sidelines? You surely would not want a guy that would show the low class it would take to leave OM after just one year. If so, I would fear USC might want another shot at his brilliance after a year here..... He at least seems to be more discreet with his dating life now....

Wouldve taken him back in 2017. Sorry folks, but this is a business and he did what he thought was best for him. I was pissed just like anyone else, but I’m not holding on to hurt feelings for 11 years. It’s done and over, and he’s a proven offensive mastermind.

That he is AND he saved Saban the indignity of ever being run off the field by an OSU team ever again. Saban USED to be a defensive mastermind. Meyer spanked him and Kiffin taught him the value of offensive football which Saban needed at the time and is all the rage these days.
