JG is a horrible quarterback. His inability to make pre-snap reads and to get the ball downfield to open receivers is stunning. Why can't the coaches see what 97% of the fans see and make a change. This year might be the year we don't win a single game if they keep that clown at quarterback.

JG actually makes really great pre-snap reads. His problem as soon as the ball is snapped he looses his mind. Can see in his body language how nervous he gets. Then he questions everything he sees and instead of trusting his read and using his eyes, he holds the ball. Then has to take a sack or throw the check down. Hell then he even throws the check down late.

Very, very frustrating.

JG took 14 points off the board with late/underthrown balls.

The guy is a moron and is as awful a QB as Butch was a head coach
He could throw a ball a mile and half

Can he throw it beyond the the first down marker on 3rd and 3? If so I’m starting to think Uncle Rico would be a definite upgrade from JG.

No point in continuing the JG experiment. To slow and can't see downfield. He has had plenty of time to show his skills, they just are not college level. Let's start grooming our next QB now. Same with all the other positions. Come into next season with some experienced players.

Pruitt is seemingly willing to sacrifice the season to keep Harrison Bailey on the hook. However, top-flight QB recruits don’t end up signing with dumpster fires like we have blazing here right now.

At this point it looks like Pruitt has a bad case of smartest-guy-in-the-room syndrome, and is just doubling down on being stubborn about his choice. His disdain for Tennessee fans is becoming more apparent all the time.

Believe me, I completely understand being frustrated but there’s absolutely no excuse for calling JG a moron. That’s too far man. He’s a kid and a kid that’s out there getting drilled time and time again for your entertainment. Maybe you should go try it and see how easy it is to play QB.

21 years old is not a kid.

I’ve actually wondered that myself. However I don’t think that’s the type of guy Pruitt is. He demands competitive players.

I think it’s more of the defense makes so many mistakes, why risk a freshman QB that will make more mistakes and have games get out of control.

JG isn’t a great QB, he doesn’t make plays. However he doesn’t make many mistakes to give the ball up either. With the way the defense is playing. That’s what we haven’t seen another QB yet.

That was the more accurate last year. This year he is giving the ball up. He has at least 3 turnovers already and could have 2-3 more easily. It’s definitely time for a change to see what the other QBs have.

Oh I agree it’s time for a change now. I would cut my losses and see what happens. I’m just talking about what a coach is thinking during a game he knows he has to win. Because from practice reports both freshman QB’s turn the ball over a lot.

Last nights game JG didn’t play a good game. However he didn’t loose the game either. A. Taylor in regulation & the defensive line in overtime lost that game.

Yes because that somehow makes sense.
More sense than calling JG a moron. Criticizing his play is fine but he’s giving everything he has for my alma mater and attacking him personally is unwarranted and in very poor taste. You are capable of good posts. You had a great point earlier this week about having JG sit and watch a couple series as I’ve seen that help a QB see things differently before. Calling JG a moron wasn’t one of the good ones.

Okay let me rephrase.

JG is not smart enough to play QB and be successful.

I'd be shocked if JG doesn't trot out there vs UTC. Tight losses to the likes of GSU and BYU gave no opportunity to get reps for either backup qb. The staff absolutely must win vs UTC. Going with a backup qb with virtually no experience against UTC is a huge risk. Flipside is that if you're probably going to have to make a change, your last chance to ease him into action is this weekend before the grind begins. Is it fair to a young player to ask him to take on UF, UGA, Bama at this point? Doubt they're going to do that. For better or worse, you're going to see JG unless he gets injured.

I get what you’re saying. I do disagree on your last point. When you lose a close game the focus is always on the plays at the end. No doubt those were huge, especially the coverage bust, but what if we kick that FG late in the game? What if JG doesn’t throw that pick to start the second half? As always is the case in a team sport, there’s blame to go around.

There are plenty of things JG could have done to put the game away. He didn’t do those things. However when there was 20 seconds left in the game Taylor trying to jump a 15 yard out did send the game to OT.

And yes the BYU running back did drag Tennessee’s entire defensive line 5 yards for a game winning score.

JG was involved in none of those plays. Tennessee had leads in both of those situations. And from a coaches mind why would you pull JG in that game when you had the lead for the whole game for a freshman QB that throws picks in practice?

He didn't do it on his own. He had half his offense helping to keep him up and pushing for the endzone. The flipside to that is that our defense kinda quit pushing back. Not sure if they thought they heard a whistle, but they gave up instead of continuing to push back. Just a microcosm of the program right now if I'm being honest.
