Kiffin has left a trainwreck everywhere he has been, including here. Rehiring him will simply reinforce the national narrative that we are stupid and crazy.

Tee is one of our own and will value our traditions.

He has not acted like one of our own in the past. We don't need someone who will suck up to our traditions--we need someone who can win football games in the SEC

Love Tee, appreciate him as a player here and for the VFL that he is but he is not ready for a job like TN. Lane made mistakes here, he publicly admitted leaving was a mistake. He has paid his dues now as a coach and has had personal struggles that test the mettle of a man. He is a good coach, that isn't debatable. His next P5 job will be his last shot, he knows that. He can compete on the recruiting trail and as a coach on the field. Have a favorable buy-out, not $900k, to protect TN and go make it happen. He would thrive in this environment and his attitude is what TN needs.

And what happens if he doesn’t succeed? It will be hard as hell to fire him

Tee first. He is UT. Kiffin is ok with me but at this point, we could surround him with other good coaches to help.

I agree but I am afraid he might be playin us with his tweets. He may just want to be offered to be able to turn us down

Neither one. When the time for choosing came, each chose Southern California over Tennessee. I want somebody who really wants to be here

Bull$hit, Butch, Dooley, Schiano wanted to be here. What we need is to win. Give me a winner. Not Chad Morris, Toledo boy, NCState man, or one of these unproven coordinators.

Witch Doctor say hiring another "up and comer" dont work. Hire Kiffin win games screw what the "media" thinks. If you have or know of a better candidate (other than superman)
realistic, lets hear it. Kiffin is the best option, said it last night, confirms it again.

Witch Doctor is wise, Witch Doctor is right!!

I say give Kiffin first shot only because he's got the HC experience and he's been doing this a lot longer than Tee.

Having said that, I would put some serious clauses in his contract and if he balks at any of those, I would thank him for his time and then get on the phone and call Tee.

Which one would you pick for head coach at Tennessee?

Give a concise reasoning below.

I feel like I’m doing your job for you, mr. Currie. Wish you’d have put up a poll this past Saturday!

I voted Tee because that’s what my hearts telling me. But we have to give the man time. He’s family and deserves it!

I'd be for either one honestly, but at times like these we need UT blood leading us forward.

1-Tee Martin
2-Lane Kiffin

I voted Kiffin, but I don't believe that will ever happen unless there is a huge push--something akin to this weekend's protest--to get him in here. From what I read in the national media, he is not being considered. Manning wouldn't want him, Fulmer wouldn't, big donors wouldn't.

Only hope is a groundswell from the rank and file fan.

I get a little worried when we talk about hiring people with such strong ties to UT. What if we hired Tee, and he ended up being a total bust? I love Tee. I don't want to have the masses calling to fire him and then sour our connections to him. That being said, he could be good.

I think Kiffin would be fun at least.

Tee Martin

Neither are home run hires, and I would say that both are basically a coin flip when it comes to whether they can come here and win at a championship level as a HC. However, at least Tee has ties to this school that don't involve leaving town after a year, and Tee has won a championship here as a player, which has to count for something.

If I were Currie, I would not talk to anyone until I was convinced that I had exhausted every last option to bring Lane back.

What ever he wants, whatever it takes, I would do everything in my power to make it happen.

And if I failed, I should resign!

Lane, just something about him I’d want him to have my back in a bar fight. He wants to beat Bama as much as anyone, he’d probably disrespect Satan,(Saban) and bring UT back quickest.
Tee would be awesome the blue collar QB who got us to #1 after our favorite hero left. Would be totally awesome, and would win here. Either way we couldn’t go wrong!

Real world Curie is a joke now, Haslam is whatever he is. Rumors Peyton won’t support Tee, what a time to be a Vol fan. I think I liked it better when I didn’t hear or know so much. Tennessee football was fun, I just watched on Saturday I didn’t know what was going on good or bad off the field. I just rooted for the the team I loved!!!

Tee Martin. Obvious choice at this stage of the process. He is young, but his hire would unite the fan base and be viewed as a solid hire that should have been considered from the start. Martin can recruit, has been a successful OC at USC, and his hire would be viewed as a huge positive given that he would be our first African-American HC. He could be very successful here with the right staff and the support of the administration for many years to come. Kiffin would be entertaining, but quite frankly, a huge risk at this juncture. Any hire other than Martin at this point, will be met with skepticism. Martin is a no-brainer. Thus, it won't happen. On a side note, why haven't Charles Davis and Condredge Holloway not been more involved in the process of hiring a new coach? These guys are valuable resources we haven't been utilizing enough.

I would like a proven winner too, but we just struck out with Gundy, and I am guessing that Petersen said no when his interest was gauged. If Frost said he wasn't even willing to speak with Florida, he probably isn't going to speak with us either, and he is probably headed to Nebraska, where he won a national championship as a player. Currie should definitely at least make him say no to us, but I'm not confident he will consider us. So who do you propose we go after that is still realistically in play?

Kiffin and it’s not even close

Talented? Yes. Entertaining? Yes. Big risk. Almost had us in trouble the one year he was here and he hasn't stayed anywhere for very long. Let me reiterate. Huge risk with lots of negative publicity.
