Listening to the post game, sounded like he has checked out. He was clueless as to why we fell apart (its like he learned that from Holly Warlick) and just didn’t want to be there. Fulmer should show some guts as AD and show up at practice to help - either coach the guy up or make him so mad he throws his whistle down and storms off (in which case you quickly accept his resignation). We might be able to afford another buy out, but we can’t afford to keep the highest paid DLine coach Butch Pruitt around any longer either.

We need to get as serious about football as we did finally with BBall. May have to wait til after the pandemic but it's way past due.

This year Pruitt is out coaching himself. The game plan was obvious last week and against Bama. They never deviated each game after halftime. The opponents saw what we wanted to do and took that away from us. Pruitt needs to leave the offense alone and focus on defense. He is paying Chaney to run a game plan that is not his.

JG was better than BM but Bailey showed some promise. The offense responded better to him as well. My issue is that we still see QBs not fully running the offense. I see them staring down 1 receiver each play and then checking down to the RB or throwing it away. Franks read the whole field on his long TD pass and hit his 4th option or was using his eyes to keep the DBs off his main target. We have not had that kind of QB play here in a long time. This is 100% on the coaching staff.

I don’t see us beating TAMU, Auburn, or Florida at this point. Each of those teams are hitting their stride right now while we continue to regress.

I thought we should have kicked the FG instead of going for it. Also the refs missed a PI on that play as well. They also called a couple of PI on us that we questionable.

Throw this year out the window though. Next year there needs to be much better. If not then queue up the coaching search and get our scouts out checking for planes in Knoxville.

Who am I kidding? Fulmer won’t run off a coach he hired and gave an extension to. So dig in Vols fans as we have at least 2 more years of this lovely football to watch.

I’ve been watching and waiting before I jumped to the “fire Pruitt” crowd but I’m there now. It’s not the losses for me; It’s the lack of development, game plan, inability to make adjustments, and the lack of discipline. I think Pruitt is way in over his head. The one thing he never learned from Saban was how to overcome a losing program. Pruitt has had a full deck with these other teams and only had one focus...defense. He is not a good CEO. You either got it or you don’t. He doesn’t have it. The question is, are we willing to lose bad year on year hoping that he “learns”? That is a question the admin needs to answer. I would say we are slipping deeper and deeper into a bottom of the barrel SEC team, but who am I kidding, we are already there. These kids are so far removed from good Tennessee teams from 20 years ago that it doesn’t really matter. The sad part, I cared WAY more the last time this happened. I will always love Tennessee but this is the new norm. Facilities aren’t going to sell players on Tennessee...we need a whole new mindset from top to bottom. It used to be a formula...now it’s like catching lightning in a bottle.

I voted no because, forget other reasons, UTAD simply can't afford it at this time. They are taking a beating in revenue this year, his and his assistants' buyouts are huge, and we'd have to come up with serious dough for a proven winner. I don't see it.

I agree. I believe your comments are the reality right now. The idea of any university dropping 10-12 million for a coaching change right now doesn’t seem in any way feasible.

I also believe there is a chance, albeit a small one, that with with a normal spring and fall camp, along with another recruiting class and changes in philosophy, that the team can move forward. If not, we are almost certainly in the rinse and repeat cycle we’ve been for the last decade plus.

This season is a big crap sandwich and the fan base has had to take more bites than they should. But, the reality is that we are probably going to have to go back for seconds.

Pruitt has a superiority complex. It’s his way or the highway. He can’t let his Coordinators do their thing without putting his nose into the equation. He needs a mentor and Fulmer ain’t that guy either because he was the same way to a certain extent. Pruitt is incapable of recognizing his own weaknesses and won’t fire his idiot buddies that are incapable of coaching this team to a SECE championship if you gave them the nations best players 5 years straight. They are lower tier buffoons and likely border line retards.

Hell, at this point I’d make Cheney the interim head coach and demote Pruitt to DC. Make a deal with Cheney to pay his salary based upon incentives and give him millions of reasons to turn this around. That way we don’t have ridiculous payouts that we can’t afford but mostly I’d like to see this because I’d like to see Pruitt put in his place. Maybe he’d learn a little about humility and working together as a team versus his dictatorship style.

Wish I could give you a couple more likes; however, if you think about it, that change would look closer to 20 million (spread out some, of course).

It’s awful hard to defend him right now. Last year there was signs of progress against the lower tier teams like Ark. We are clearly going backwards.

I would have given more credence to the COVID restrictions on practice excuses the first few games where we actually looked decent but six games in and coming out of a bye to look that bad against another 2-3 team is inexcusable.

And it’s deeper that JG right now.

I agree its deeper than jg, but i still think he is the major problem with team morale. I see it like this, pruitt jumps all over everyone else, but jg. And of course players see and hear this, thus low team morale, and a coach quickly loses the locker room.which i think is what has happened. We have shown we can be competitive in spurts, like 1st half of ga. Up until then we seen competitive play by us. But remember what happened 3rd qtr of ga, and we have not been the same since. He called out everyone but jg very strongly.

This. No use in talking about a different coaching staff. Its not happening this year regardless of what happens.

This is iffy, if one could line up a winning coach with an extensive winning resume of beating say Nick Saban then yes. If the intent is to hire bargain bin and hope for the best then save the buyout money no more extensions amd save up to hire a proven winner
I think you misspelled Hugh Freeze.

Should he go? Yes. Will he go? No. We’re stuck with this clown another couple of years.

If he can bounce back and be competitive with Vandy, he'll finish his contract. 3 wins this season could save him.

Oh my god. That’s you gauge as to whether he needs to be retained. Can we be competitive against vandy? We have about the 12th most talented roster in college football. We’re horrifically coached. Like it’s been for the last decade. We need a change. A coach isn’t going to become all the things necessary to be great over night. Intelligent, creative, high level communicator. Those are traits you’re born with or you’re not.

Every time somebody mentions being competitive with Vandy it's like are we living in 2020 or 1920?

They could fire him for cause....... its a weak one but they could say he endangered the players by violating covid protocol..... they go to court and he settles for pennies on the dollar.....

The biggest mystery of all. How did they win the first 2?
I can only grasp at straws for the explanation. Their leaders are still butchies and they remembered who they were after the GA beat down.
This was a good team first 2 games and first half of the UGA game. Something happened in the locker room at halftime of that game and the team has not been the same since

If something did happen it needs to be out in the open - I wouldnt mind if its something that could get Beldar fired for cause, nixing his buyout
