I fully expect Civil to leave. If she stays, I will be very surprised. Minus? No idea. Whoever the coach is will need to create an entire roster from the portal. ENTIRE ROSTER...

Even if she gets 10 of the best out of the portal, would that be enough to even have better than a .500 season overall? Certainly would be in the running for the basement of the SEC. Having said that, what's her buyout? Is it worth it to try now? If White was hesitant to spend much money on a better known HC when he hired Caldwell, on what planet would he pony up enough for the buyout AND then enough to get a better quality HC next season?

Plus at this point, unless it happens TODAY and the new HC is announced tomorrow, there's a pretty good chance we would almost completely strike out in the portal. Could you imagine trying to get enough bodies just to play a game using a bunch of walk-ons? I realize I'm being a tad histrionic, but lordy, what a nightmare. I keep praying to myself that it's only a bad dream, but every day I wake up to the nightmare that is currently our beloved program. Please let something good come our way. We are way over due at this point LOL...

Here's the rub, what good does firing her now do? Who wants to come to a program with one returning player and one remaining recruit? And it's not the superstar recruit. They'd have to hit the ground running and praying they can piece together a team from the portal. Not to mention, because of the circumstances, you'd have to overpay for whoever you got. And I don't see DW doing that. He'd more likely look for another up-and-comer. Do I think she deserves to keep her job? No, not really. She lost almost her entire team and the star of her recruiting class. I'm just not sure firing her right now is truly an option.

You’d at least be building for the future and the new coach would have a head start on the next year to build relationships. Right now, Kim‘s future is going nowhere.

Since fox sports radio wants to use the results from my poll from a month ago as justification that the majority of fans want to see Kim retained, let's take an updated look at where the fanbase now stands. Should Kim Caldwell be fired or retained for another year.
The first poll you could tell how people voted. This one you can’t. Forgot to give that or deemed too confrontational?

Glad you updated the poll👍

Feels like you'd be setting the new coach up to fail. It's going to take a lot of digging to get out of this hole. And Vol fans are not known for being patient.

I get that, but right now, it’s setting up Kim to fail as well. Why delay the digging another year? Danny has put himself in an awful situation.

Remember her opening press conference when she said her mom advised her not to take this job? She should've listened
we were in the car and joking that her mom probably has made a few of those loving but also kind of snide comments about being right to Kim at this point.

The researcher in me tried to make this one more scientific. The anonymity should make it more reliable as an actual view on where the fanbase stands.

This vote assumes that another DW coaching search improves the situation. I can’t make that assumption. Hopefully he now knows he’ll have one year to plan a path forward. He needs a lot of help, hope he seeks and gets it.

All the talk about reloading from the portal assumes that there will be some NIL money, and that assumes donors/supporters willing to invest in a program that has just lost nearly every player and at least its best recruit, and two assistant coaches.

Is that a real world assumption or just wishful thinking?

If rumors are true that some boosters have been ignored, there will definitely be less NIL anyway unless someone is willing to step in and give more than previously

Agree. And why continue asking this question. AD Whit wis keeping her. End of story. Let’s hope she can build a roster and have a better season. If not, see ya- coaching search.

I am a Vol fan. All sports, all the time. That doesn't mean I support all coaches. I stopped attending baseball games in the Todd Raleigh era when he blamed everyone but himself for a terrible product. When Jerry Green told basketball fans to go to Walmart if they didn't like his product, I decided to eat my basketball popcorn at home. In the Butch Jones tenure, his inability to keep from lying at every turn had me eating football hotdogs at home. I have kept attending Lady Vol games through the Holly and Kellie lean years, and the first two seasons under Kim Caldwell. Her arrogance, coupled with the AD telling everyone what a great job she is doing, has given me flashbacks to the Butch days. My ticket renewal for next season will stay ignored. I hope the new incoming players have success, and win big. I will just read about it when checking the box score.

Maybe because they could possibly get some of the players back
