Do to recent outrage over the UF loss and many claiming this was a MUST win for bUTch.....

What do you think should happen with him?

-Wait and be patient and certainly don't judge him on this one game

-Fire him now on the spot

-Keep him for many years

-Too early to tell (17 games in)

How about the option of: Judge him by this game and realize he isn't anything great and also realize that he can't be fired at this point and you would never let Dave Hart hire another football coach anyway, so you just have to accept that your team will probably continue being subpar while just about every other program improves around you and so you might as well cultivate an appreciation of whiskey and other fine liquors...will that fit?

Too early to tell but he is 0-2 in his biggest games to date. Has had two chances to propel UT out of this slump, Vandy last year (bowl game) and then last Saturday. He built up the suspense for the game and the biggest streak should have been over, everything aligned for TN in that game.

BUT, at the very least, Butch would leave the cupboard full for the next coach ala Zook. He is at least bringing in the talent to compete.

I'm not at the point of placing the blame on him, YET. The OC should be held accountable for a lot of the failures (unless Jones has been overruling him on play calls, which I don't believe is happening)

Voted: I'm starting to wonder, only because it was the closest to my opinion. But so far he has turned into what I thought he was from the beginning, an average actual coach

Didn't Freak make a post about this earlier?

Maybe the OP should change his avatar picture.

I have a question but I'm not starting a new thread....but Butch's excuse this year for not making a bowl will be no offensive line....next year hypothetically if he does not make a bowl...will the excuse that he does not have a QB be there, or will everyone want him fired?

How about, Butch will be given a few years like every other coach at a big program. If he succeeds yay for us, and if he fails he will be fired.

To blame any of this on a coach when we do not have the correct pieces in place is akin to retardation.

It's not your fault your that way, but all the rest of us can really say is ... Bless your heart..

I think we have the right guy for the job. I pray that he does not decide to go somewhere else. Somewhere down the road my opinion might change. But it's too soon to panic, IMO.

No matter who we hired, given the situation that existed following the tenures of the 2 previous coaches, he was going to need a MINIMUM of 3 seasons to turn things around. Butch has done everything right so far. Give him the time he needs to get results on the field.

I know I'm going to catch a lot of flack for this, but I really think if Dooley came back and was our OC, he would be extremely successful. Much like Kiffen at Alabama, he is not a head coach but is an amazing coordinator. I have also heard we have been in contact with Dooley to see if he would be open to the role, remember he was loved by almost every player on the team and would be welcomed by most inside the program back with open arms.

When was Dooley an amazing coordinator? He is horrible in every way and never ran an offense.
