Mark Howard and Paul K. are top class, but 3HL has devolved into a circle jerk since Clay left. Don't get me wrong, I still listen to 3HL when convenient via car radio as I'm not totally above Mickey's goofy humor, but I'm in no way compelled to fire up my bedside unit as I did religiously during Clay's heyday.

there's so much wrong in this its hard to find out where to start.....

I tune into 104.5 almost exclusively when I know Butch or Chris Lowe will be on. I'll also tune in during my morning drive to hear outdated info from Jimmy Hyams on Fridays. The rest of the programming IMO just isn't very good.

Morning -
Frank Wycheck is good for color commentary but for all other things he comes off as the stereotypical football player. I.e dumber than a box of rocks. It's hard to listen to him stammer through a cogent sentence. How he graduated from Maryland, I'll never know...

Mark Howard might work great in Philly, Pittsburgh or Boston but his style is terrible for Nashville. Perfectly reasonable callers attempt to bring up sports related issues and he immediately goes full a$$hole on them. How is that entertaining?

My other problem is that he seems to think sports talk equals name-dropping of front office staff. I don't give a frick who's in charge of Titans player personnel occupational development. And he'll go on and on about completely esoteric administrative NFL/NHL/MLB crap too. I'd rather hear about Bama's defense than whose likely to get into a fight at the (2-14) Titans training camp or hear them prattle on about some Preds player whose name I couldn't spell to save my life.

Mid-day 180 -
I'm working... On the rare occasion I catch it, PK makes it impossible to watch. The Yankee shtick sucks. And I'm no southern good ol'boy.

3HL
Mickey (AKA The New Guy) is alright and Brent is decent although sometimes they do too much pop culture. Blain however adds very little and that high pitch voice he goes into grates on the ears. (See Frank Wycheck)

I'd gladly substitute Inky Johnson or someone with a non-Titans perspective into the show.

For me, Chris Lowe is basically the highlight of my week even if he's talking about other SEC teams.

I would vote but I live in Illinois AND I never listen to a radio nor respected the low paid clowns blabbering on it

Yes we are in Nashville. But, more importantly, we are in Tennessee.

The State's capitol! The capitol city for the state of Tennessee and Tennessee is the state sponsored school. All Nashvillians should embrace the state school. Vandiebuilt is a small local private school. Can't really use the argument that they are just cheering for the local team in Vandie. It's just more so Vol hatred. If it is the local theory, they would support TSU, Belmont, Lipscomb, MTSU, Trevecca and every other local university.

All Tennesseans SHOULD be Tennessee fans by birth right. Some chose to like Vandie because they are backwards punks.

That makes zero sense.

Nailed it. Couldn't improve on it although I would add that the constant Yankees baseball references don't endear Mark Howard to me either.

As much as I loath Clay Travis, 104.53HL has become puking in my mouth radio. I don't listen to ANY Nashville sports radio now! :whistling:

Agree. As much as I used to turn the station because of that asshat, the show has really declined with his absence....and it's not really because of Mickey IMO. It's just the change in dynamics. Both Brent and Blaine have just become borderline unbearable to listen to.

Paul Kapowski, yes Kapowski, is an ignorant person. He just isn't a smart individual. Very, very low IQ. It is difficult to listen to him completely butcher the English Language the way his does. People who aren't very smart typically waste most of their time attempting to run others into the ground. He just has pimento cheese for brains. I'm sure his mother is or would embarrased by his less than immature behavior. Surely he was raised properly.

They're all pretty bad.

I don't listen to anything on 94.9 or 102.5, Plaster is unbearable.

I kinda like Wychek on the Wake Up Zone but Mark Howard is obnoxious and Kevin Ingram is a dork.

Cant stand Midday 180, every time Ive tried to listen to that show I literally want to drive to the station and punch Paul Kuharsky in the face.

Mickey Ryan on the 3HL is funny but they talk about too much dumb off topic stuff. Also, I cant listen to Blain Bishop. That poor guy is literally dumb as a rock on anything other than football. When he gets excited his voice goes up to teenage girl pitch, very annoying.

Normally I listen to the first hour of the Swain Event on my way to work and as much of the rest of the show I can fit in on Podcast on my way home. Going to start listening to RTI more though. Nashville sports radio blows.
I agree with almost everything you just said, except for wychek, his whiny voice makes me want to jam a ice pick through my eardrums.

Any thoughts on Kelly?

I like when Dan Patrick comes on...not exactly local. Other than that, there's literally nothing worth listening to. I get tired of the constant Titans/deflategate news. I mean I get it, it's Nashville but cmon. We all know there are more UT fans in the mid state than there are Titans fans.

We get it. You want all UT all the time on the radio. Well, because of all the things you just said about Nashville, there's much more to talk about on sports radio. 2 professional teams plus a AAA baseball team plus a population that is a little more robust when it comes to their sports preferences. Like it or not, Nashville is not a one pony show. I flip to what I like and then turn the damn thing off if I'm not interested. I see a satellite radio in your future. I like 104.5 the best currently but was a big Bob Bell fan when sports radio really took off in the 80's, remember well when Duncan Stewart sat on a billboard until the Vols won a game in 1988. Given all the choices, I would still rather listen to Rob Dibble or Dan Patrick most of the time,

I usually don't listen to sports radio except for football season, but it seems like the Titans is all they talk about on 104.5.

You do know that Nashville is the Titans town right? Just like sports radio in Knoxville is all vols, just the way it works. Besides they talk about the vols plenty on there, most of them are vol alumni.

I never would've guessed. But since I don't give a crap about the Titans, or the NFL for that matter I choose to not listen.

I can't stand The Midday 180. Paul K. wants to turn everything anyone says that is not the same opinion as his, into an argument. And Chad tries hard to be Paul's little minnie me! I wish PK would move back up north and take his hatred for all things southern with him!!

For the record, only Withrow and Daughtery are UT alumni. That being said, you're right, plenty of Vols talk....they have regular appearances with Hubbs, Hyams and Fortenberry (used to be Rucker). I think Brice makes a regular appearance as well. Then throw in Chris Low who discusses UT a lot on his weekly appearance when the season commences, along with each show interviewing Butch a handful of times throughout the year. Hell, they'll even have Kesling on a couple times. They're the flagship station in Nashville for UT and it shows....just gotta know when to listen.

Admit it, you miss Clay.

Also you do realize the Van Pelt is a syndicated show and not local right?

Plus, Van Pelt is no longer on the radio, it's just Russillo now and even he isn't on Nashville radio...been replaced on 102.5 The Game by Darrin McFarland and Derek Mason (the former Titan, not the blithering idiot Vandy coach) at noon.

I go to the zone to download the podcasts of Doug Mathews "Big Orange Sunday". I don't listen to anything else. That's why I'm not voting - not familiar with the other things.

I'm a realtor and usually do open houses on Sunday's. I load Big Orange Sunday on my memory stick, bring my portable radio and stick it in there. When there isn't any traffic in the house, I listen to the show. Can usually make it through before the open house ends.

If you aren't familiar with Big Orange Sunday, it's worth podcasting, however I couldn't find yesterdays edition. :ermm: It's usually out there right after the show.

Doug, former assistant coach to Fulmer and Majors - has good insight into what is going on with the coaching staff and does a great job of analyzing recruiting. As the season cranks up, it'll be good to hear his analysis on the games.

Easy there. That's more of a generational thing. Guys my age that really rooted for another NFL team beside the Oilers growing up didn't toss our allegiances to the side. My kids are Titans fans, but I could care less and I've lived in Middle TN all but the 4 years I was at UT.

I do like the college game, but I don't find I'm starved for info between the internet, social media, radio and print that's available. All of for free. It's just now getting good. The summer lull is the worst.
