Thanks

So he and DH are still in talks. His hold up is what his peers are saying about UT fans. Which is a scary thought.

Any coach that comes in here and wins will be loved by the fans. Work hard, recruit, don't lose 10 games by 5 points or less and show that you know how to coach in tight games and I don't think the fans will be a problem. Not real sure I want a coach that isn't confident enough in his own ability to do the things I mentioned above.

Doesn't really make me excited. Meh. If he doesn't accept it really would not get me upset. Just have bad memories of the last time UT dealt with La Tech.

I am not blasting so don't get me wrong, but I ain't buying it. Fans are fans and they are passionate.

Yes I can believe that there is a hesitation, but it's not worth getting peers on the phone to discuss, well maybe as a sidebar.

The problem was the risk involved and the buyout. Hart gives him a guarantee 3 to 5 years because he knows what a mess this is at the present. The fans are not a factor to Hart the real deal is the hire.

White should know he can win anyway, this is a good move for him but he needs the security of a buyout and the preservation of a decent future. It's all about the buyout, if I call peers its going to be about the money not the fan pressure.

Please stop with the " memories of the last U t hire from La. Tech " this has nothing to do with that. Please don't be so narrow minded.

Last time we hired a guy who's "success" equated to a couple of NIT appearances we tried to run him off halfway through year 3

Really? We fired a coach, Delmonico, that made it to Omaha several times as a UT coach. We haven't been back since he was fired. Hmmm.

The question was about hirings not firings. We've fired coaches who have won national championships, been to Elite Eights and College World Series. None of their immediate replacements set the world on fire.

Not sure, because I haven't seen a single game the man has coached.

Whoever gets it, I am behind them. And I hope Hart gets it right.

Butch was not a homerun hire

He wasn't?

6 straight NCAA tourney appearances, a #1 ranking albeit brief, SEC East championships, an Elite 8 appearance, a dramatic increase in interest/attendance/"buzz" around the program....it didn't end well, but the hell it wasn't a home run hire.

I think you got Butch and Bruce mixed up

Yes, mainly because his name doesn't look like it was created on a spoonful of prison alphabet soup.

But seriously he pulled some decent recruiting classes at Ole Miss so I would think he could do the same at Tennessee.
