I personally think this kind of poll should be disallowed on VolNation. It reflects poorly on what has grown to be one of the most respectable boards in the SEC.

utfantilidie

You also have lawyers on speed dial for your kids when the big bad cops come around, right?

:banghead2:

Lol crusty must be related to crompton. How can ANYONE argue in that clowns defense? Now that's a FAIL! lol

I will say that one of my problems of this game was playing people like Jones. I think he was rushed back and should have been eased into the rotation. Don't throw your #1 target out there when he isn't ready (and not running the right routes). I think we should have stuck wtih the starters he had last week. Oh well.

How does it get this good?

So now it is a problem?

Whatever man.
He went 6-9 with no picks in the last 19 minutes of the game. He had constant insane pressure every time he dropped back.
If you can't see that...Well then maybe you should make another jackass poll.

Please show the Vol fanbase for what it continues to become.

Yeah, Clausen could throw over 5, I mean 3 yards down the field!

Clausen was horrible!

Here you go.......

Rick Clausen Career Stats (2 Years)

201-345 - 2,390 yards -58.6 Comp. %- 14tds- 11ints
11.9 Yards per Completion

Jonathan Crompton (4 Years)

158-299 - 1,713 yards -52.8 Comp %-14tds-14ints
5.72 Yards Per Completion

You got a good point there, Crompton is miles ahead of Clausen :bad:

I don't know how anyone could say Crompton is the worst EVER unless it was purely based on stats. I am not old enough to have watched ALL UT quarterbacks which have played.
Having said that, I voted MAYBE.
Since the late 1960's (when I began following the Vols), my vote is that Crompton is undoubtedly the WORST player at his position in that 50 years time frame.

Have to throw in Todd Helton and Rick Clausen.

Oh, and Clausen played in 14 games, Crompton has played in 21 and counting. And it would take a great year from Crompton to match the yards Clausen threw in 14 games, so yeah, Clausen had no arm.

Clausen had both Robert Meachem and Jayson Swain.
I'd take either of them over every receiver on our roster.

Clausen was a has bend. You can defend him all you want but he was not an adequate quarterback.

Has Bend??? And if you will go back to my original post you will see that I said, "I'm in no way trying to say Rick Clausen was great by any means," He was however, "adequate" atleast more so than Crompton

That would be a vailid argument if our current receivers were teaching courses on how to drop passes, but Clausen still had to be able to throw it to them.

Never played football. I can throw a pretty good spiral though.

Look, I’m sure you're related to Crompton, or in some way can relate to him and his situation, but to us realists, Crompton is horrible and the worst part is, he continues to make the same mistakes and never really accepts responsibility for his actions (which is why he continues to make the same mistakes.) It’s a cycle that sadly, won’t end.

Again, my point isn't whether or not Crompton isn't any good. My point is that true fans don't set up classless polls like the one you set up. You claim to be the UT #1 fan but you are obviously not a real fan--just an anonymous poster seeking attention by ridiculing college kids.

BTW, congratulations on being able to throw a spiral.

I don't know if Crompton is the worst QB ever, but this may be the worst QB situation we have ever had. We have 2 years without a QB that has proven that he can win games for us (2008 & 2009). And in 2010, we have to see if Stephens can improve or a recruit can come in as a true freshman and start for us. The only QB we have in the fold right now is Bray, and while he has huge potential, he's still a project.

I worry that this staff has already decided to look long term and has no answer to the QB situation in the interim.

What's all this "Anonymous poster" stuff about? Am I missing something? We're ALL anonymous posters.... Do you want me to give you my name or something? So under your logic, a fan can't be critical of his team, or in this case, a player? Give me a break.

Look my distaste for Crompton is no secret. But I really wanted to gauge, amongst my peers and other UT fans, whether I was the only one that thought JC was the worst QB of all time. Apparently I’m not alone....

Ainge, Clausen, and Manning all started as freshmen. I don't see Stephens getting in the way of Bray continuing this pattern.

You're correct. 302 people are over-exaggerating the situation just like you.

He is the worst starting QB I've seen in my 32 years of watching Volunteer football. This is probably the worst QB situation that we have had in that time though also. We're going to take our lumps this season, get some young players some experience, and be a better team in the future for it.
