ummmm....out of ALL the QB's UT has ever had...Id say no. Im sure there have been some pretty bad walk-ons who played for the scout team.

Out of the ones to actually start.....yes. And its not even close.

AJ Suggs might have been worse. That kid Leak might have been worse as well.

Crompton could still bounce back and have a great year. Really, one of the only interesting things about this season is going to be watching how Kiffin manages this situation.

Obviously, I want JC to succeed.

The only thing about Suggs, Leak and you could also throw in Joey Matthews IMO was that they were benched for there poor play...Crompton is like a cat with as many lives as he has been given.

crompton sucks, i dont know why so many people defend him like theyre related to him or something, in any other job if you perform like crap you get criticized and maybe even canned so why should he be different...so what if he "bleeds orange" so do most of the other players on the team and they dont stink it up on sat. he is the worst qb and maybe even player in ut history, bring back jim bob please

I had to go with maybe because I dont know what UT's QB's were like before Heath Shuler. But he certainly has been the worst one since then. Does Rick Clausen have eligibility left?

Rick Clausen looks like Montana compared to Crompton. He at least took care of the ball.

The backup QB is always the most popular guy on a losing team. You should remember the calls for Crompton to start over Ainge a few years ago. Casey Clausen was much maligned even though he was fairly successful here. Luckily Tee Martin won his first 13 starts and gained UT invincibility but even Peyton the Great would get nonstop criticism for not being Florida.

Crompton sucks...so does Stephens

time to move on

pretty sure I know the play you're describing and it was a screen that got blown up. Probably not going to be a whole lot of WR open downfield since they should be blocking. He did the right thing there

No, something could have developed, he never gave it a chance. We'll never know.

I think we can definitely say he's the worst who has started 6+ games and been a team captain. I doubt he's the worst QB ever on our roster.

I'm only 30, and I really have only been following this team closely for a little over 8 years, but I can't name someone who has played worse than Crompton over this stretch of a year. I will never boo him, or get on him at a game (mainly because I don't agree with being too hard on amateur athletes, especially guys who appear to be very nice, like Jonathan), but I can't think of anyone who has played worse. I actually wonder how good this offense could be, assuming the running game gets on track, with someone like Ainge, or Casey Clausen, Ainge especially, though. I wonder how good they could be with someone like that who could really stretch the field and benefit from a ground game full of very good backs.

You are obviously not UT's #1 fan. You, like so many others on here, are merely fair weathered fans who can't wait to blast a 21 year old kid. Get a grip. A true fan supports the Vols even in (actually, especially during) the tough times.

Any half wit can sit behind an anonymous name and take petty little potshots. Is Crompton struggling--sure. Is he the greatest we've ever had--absolutely not. But number one fans don't treat players like this.
We just want to win, and Crompton prevents us from doing that. He is horrific and needs to be benched.

For a 4 star recruit, this dude is awful. I would rather have Rick Clausen or C.J. Leak under center than this guy. He needs to learn that he can't throw bounce passes in football (especially while trailing with less than 2 minutes left)

Absolutely the worst I've seen. But I'm only old enough to be a fan since the Shuler days. I remember him and then onwards. But this is the worst QB I've ever seen at UT.

Tee Martin had a slight tendency to throw over people's heads but at least he was consistent, lol. Crompton will sometimes throw over their heads or at their feet. He's not consistent at all. I think that any of our previous starting quarterbacks could have made that pass to Gerald Jones on the post route. Any of them.

I think some of us have forgotten what it's been like to have a decent QB. Once we finally get rid of JC, i'll be singing, "Oh happy day!!" I'm not kidding, I really can't wait for "practices good" graduates, i'll wish him the best.

Through this point in his career, yes. He still has most of his senior season to turn things around...but it is unlikely.

Get a grip.

It was his 2nd game in a new system. They guy hasnt had any stability as far as coaching staff, schemes, and or game plans throughout his entire career. Crompton may not play to some of yall's standards, but Im willing to bet he sucks far less than some of you experts.

Hey,genius, none of us are going to UT on a football scholarship.

Your argument right here honestly holds very little water. Crompton is TERRIBLE. IMO, the biggest bust at QB ever at the University of Tennessee. Notice how I'm not saying the worste QB, just the biggest bust. Crompton was rated the #2 QB prospect coming out of highschool. I tried to share the blame with how bad he played all last year with the Coaches and just total lack of offense. But it appears that the guy does have talent, but he is just 1 big head case. Put him up against a team that puts little pressure on him and he looks pretty decent. Put him up against a team that can put pressure on him and he folds like a cheap card table. And you can't use the excuse that any of his, what should have been, 4 interceptions were anything besides terrible throws. None of them were deflected, and every one of them was pretty much thrown right to a guy. The worste one was when he had a wide open Gerald Jones on a deep crossing route, and he overthrew him by a good 10 yards and right to the UCLA Safty that was standing there waiting on it. And the really bad thing is, after his game against Western Kentucky I thought Lane had worked a miracle to have this kids confidence the way it was, and I was really hoping Crompton would make me look stupid for doubting him and that last year was just a bad year, but it seems like this week he has proven me right.
Now, with all that being said, I am in NO WAY not supporting this team. I do support this team, we have a great overall team, besides QB. And because of that we are in trouble.
