I a have always thought Steve Alatore was the worst. he was in the early 80s. He was a tall lanky kid like Ainge and was plain awful.

Can I answer, "last year" ? Last year, I would have considered him top 3 at least, but with a little TLC the magic that it CrompDizzle has shown me the light. I'll have his baby, and then feed it to a dingo

AJ Suggs, anyone? Howabout Rick Clausen?

Change the poll to "is this the worst decade in UT QB history," and I'm sure you'll get a near-unanimous vote.

Steve was a pretty decent QB.....won a bowl game and was co-MVP of that game. He was not even close to the WORST!

I think Ainge was worse his sophomore year than Crompton was last year. And he had Meachem and Swain.

That's a tough one...JMO...Ainge was pretty bad that year but after he got benched for sure and then come back he showed a little improvement...I'm not so sure Crompdaddy did that last year...I'm glad he is doing it this year though

I think this is a great thread. Amazing how opinions can change.

Sorry for all the negative juju I sent your way Jon. You proved me wrong.

The 8 who said 'yes' stopped watching football after the Ohio game. Crompton is playing like a future NFL-er. Keep it up, JC!!

He really is. His passes have been extremely accurate for the most part lately. I hope he finishes strong and gets drafted. For all the crap the guy has had to endure he certainly deserves a payday of some kind.

I've gone from a definite YES, to a maybe. I haven’t been around long enough to know if he's the worst in history based on the way he's currently performing. Before, he was so bad, I didn't have to know how bad previous QB's were, he had to be arguably one of the worst in UT history based on how he was performing. I'll never forget some of the blunders he's had in the past 2 years. Let's just hope the second half of the Ole Miss game isn't a preview of the rest of the season.... I think he'll be fine though considering the competition he has left.

Crompton is by no means the worst ever. I mean, C.J. Leak pretty much stunk it up, along with Suggs, and Jim Bob Cooter (but he did have the perfect southern football name).

Either way, I'm glad to see Crompton have some success.

Since this will be his final home game this weekend, I hope everyone gives him a nice send off.

I know that there is a facebook group that has been created to send him off with a thank you that I wrote about today at my rag of a blog (hopefully that isn't breaking the rules).

One way or the other, I think Jon Crompton has more than earned a little respect from all of us (and I was as guilty of criticizing him as everyone else).

Crompton....I was NOT a big fan @ ALL, then heard that (conveinantly) the week of the Alabama game, he got "saved", spiritually speaking. Don't know about how true that was, but look at how he has played since then, something BIG and really important has changed in him since then...u know??!! :clapping: GO VOLS!

i said it before and i'll say it again, the ocho is the man. he needed time and the right coaching and kiff gave it to him. i am proud of him and happy he is our qb.
FTR, i voted no the first time around and i did it again. that kid has enough stones and heart for an entire team.
