There have been missteps, but judging the season objectively it is a huge success. The Vols are #9 in the country with one game to go.

Ask Bama if our season was a failure. Ask Florida. LSU. Ask everyone at Kentucky and Missou who watched the Vols annihilate their teams and still have Rocky Top ringing in their ears. Ask everyone at South Carolina. They would trade our W-L record. Their season has been a failure. by comparison.

I see your point. But I would define it thusly. If we started weak and our losses came in September. That would have been a success. But we started out 8 and 0 and then self destructed in November That I define as not particularly successful

There were a lot of successes so far in this season. We beat FLA, LSU and Bama. Pulled out a first tough test vs Pitt. Lost to GA which is a loss, not a failure as they’re defending National Champs and the best team in the country. The SCar game was a failure because of how we played and the drama surrounding a potentially serious issue within our team. Overall it’s been a successful season. Beat Vandy, go to a good bowl game and ball out. Still a lot to play for and continue to make the entire season a success.

As much as i dislike Alabama Fans, I do respect that they EXPECT excellence. We should be the same. Do you really think the Bama faithful would accept that kind of loss against South Carolina? Why should Vol fans settle for it?

Its only a failure because we greatly exceeded expectations and everybody is let down we didn't make the playoffs, which was right there for the taking and is a disappointment, not a failure. I voted no by the way.

My mind is blown that people actually clicked “yes” to this.
This team exceeded all expectations and even with this loss is looking at a 10+ win season for the first time since 2007.
For whatever reason, the defense didn’t show up and the offense was out of sync last night. Add a former Heisman candidate qb playing out of his mind and we get what happened last night.
1 game doesn’t define a season. We should be damn proud of this group.

Season's have a life of their own. We had an outstanding one going, we've have gotten some good /great press coverage most of this season, we had a great chance to go to the playoff and raise our profile even further, which of course helps recruiting, and then it all got blown to hell last night. We play a very tough schedule, in a very tough league, every year--and that is why getting into the playoff this year could have really generated some lasting recruiting momentum. We've still got some, but a lot of air has gone out of the balloon in these two ugly losses. And now next year we've got very tough away games in the SEC, and I doubt Milton will match what Hooker did this year. We shall see.

Over half are probably Georgia fans. Couldn't comment on anything today without being stalked.

I think what Heupel has accomplished with this roster is quite amazing. Less 4 and 5 star players than half the rosters in this conference and he was in the hunt for the CFP. A tremendous success on the season and great things to look forward to..

Doesn't mean there are not improvements that can be made with talent at the top of the list.

I look at it more this way.
You are going into a casino and your friend asks "what will you consider a successful night?". You reply that if you walk out 20k up you will be ecstatic.
Scenario 1 - you are up 10k and double down on your last bet and win.
Scenario 2 - you are up 40k and bet and lose 20k on your last bet.

In both scenarios you walk out 20k up, having met your predetermined level of ecstasy. Obviously scenario one will leave you feeling better in the short run because you didn't suffer a painful loss.....but you were also never in a position to be up 60k.

Under both scenarios you should feel damn good.

Gosh I really wish you had made this vote publicly visible, because there are 19 deeply disadvantaged idiots here and I'd feel more comfortable knowing who they are.
