We are entering the last game of the season #9. With wins against UF, Alabama and LSU. Ranked #1 and #5 with talks and consideration of playing in the playoffs. The 2022 season wasn’t a failure. It was a good season.

Hell to the no. 19 th composite talent. Beat 2 of 3 more talented teams. Lost to one with less talent which is a first for Heupel this year.

It is hard for me to be too upset. We exceeded our expectations.. what is incredibly hard is the fact that we did push those expectations and had such a good chance to something remarkable and in true tennessee fashion laid an egg. Sad sad. Now lets just hope our recruits dont jump ship. GBO!

Only if you really expected Tennessee to be a playoff team in 2022 is it a failure. It has a bad stain, but not a failure.

From the start of the year, no. From the point of knowing we most likely get the playoffs if we win out, absolutely yes. Has feelings of 2016 when we had the world in our hands and threw it all away the 2nd half of the season

Just to reiterate, playoffs weren’t even a consideration at the beginning of the season. That would have been considered crazy talk.

I can’t believe 10% of you call this season a failure. It is the opposite. That has to be rival fans trolling, because if you call yourself a Vol and think that and voted that way, there are other teams that could use your negative energy.

There have been missteps, but judging the season objectively it is a huge success. The Vols are #9 in the country with one game to go.

Ask Bama if our season was a failure. Ask Florida. LSU. Ask everyone at Kentucky and Missou who watched the Vols annihilate their teams and still have Rocky Top ringing in their ears. Ask everyone at South Carolina. They would trade our W-L record. Their season has been a failure. by comparison.

November 19th was a failure, if we finish 10-2 then it’s the best season I’ve ever personally been here for, if the team lets that loss last night stick with them and we stumble to a 9-4 finish then I would hover closer to failure

No it isnt a failure. Its showed there is hope for the future. However we have some glaring problems defensively. The whole defensive secondary needs to be replaced. #5 should no longer be on scholarship. More focused on talking sh1t than playing football. #8 was terrible although I hope the injury wasnt to bad. Defensively we need an overhaul

No way it’s a failure - yet. But it is definitely a huge missed opportunity. I’m trying balance the fact that I thought we’d be a 7-5 team coming in to the season with the knowledge that, with with EVERYTHING to play for, this team - not once but twice - did a complete disappearing act. The Georgia loss, I suppose, can be understood. But that SCar game is inexcusable.

It was just such a disappointment to see us revert back to our tradition of taking on a mediocre opposing QB (at least up to that point) and then making him look like the best player in the nation. How many times have we pulled this stunt?

We seem to always find a way to give another team their “turning point” game or their win of the season by just laying down like a poorly coached junior high school back-up squad.

After last night, I wouldn’t be surprised if we lost to Vanderbilt next week. I’d say that if we manage to tank in the Vandy game, the season is pretty close to being a failure. There is no excuse for that.
