44-28 at his two mid major gigs. Each of those began at 5-7. Teams improved on his watch. If you eliminate each initial season, his record is 34-14. That's damn good and massive improvement. IMO, he's a great mid-major coach.
***This is not an argument for Tennessee hiring him. He sucked at Cal. BAD. Just an argument that he is top level mid-major fit.
He's a good coach at that level. So probably a decent coach overall. Winning at SMU is not easy.
