This team badly needs a win to stop the bleeding. Can't go into the heart of the SEC schedule with consecutive losses...

If they can win decisively on Saturday, take at least some of the hurt out of that UF game, they can get themselves back on track for a 7 or 8 win season...maybe thats not what some people expected going into the season, but 7-8 wins pre bowl is still an improvement from prior years

Yeap, completely done. Not too excited to watch 6-6 again and a bowl trip to Memphis. If Arkansas plays like they did against A&M they win Saturday

Here's to our players "giving their all" this Sat. evening, and our coaches, ......... well, showing they are learning from mistakes.

Games against SC, GA, MZ and AK will require a great finish! So far, finishing has not been our strong point. I don't see us winning any of them after the way the FL game went. :shakehead:

We have the roster to have a 7-8 win season including a bowl game, but the coaching staff hasn't proven to us that they can grow and learn from their mistakes and get us to that 7-8 win level.

florida game is where I've given up the last 10 years. Might as well keep that streak since Tennessee kept theirs

Have you completely given up on the season based on your own personal preseason predictions?

I thought this was a 7/8 win team and I thought UT would beat neither OK or FL.

I haven't given up on the season. I guess my expectations are looking to being close to spot on. Called last season too.

So what say you?
no. i'm not giving up entirely. but my expectations are sure changed at this point.

i don't see a way we beat UGA or Bama. and i view every game as a toss up now except for N Tx.

and it's only because now this team has to have it in their heads..."can we". it's hard to stay confident, no matter how consistent the message is, when you still haven't had any success.

7-5 is probably where we end up now, go to a bowl, and the momentum is flat lined until we get to next year and maybe, hopefully, the stars will align and we beat someone that matters.

I said before the season that if we were 3-1 in September, we would be an 8 or 9 win team. If we went 2-2 we would be hanging on to win 7. I'm not giving up, and I hope we can still squeeze out 8 losing only to uga and bama. But I'm not real confident.

The sad thing is I believe in the players more than the staff. You can see these kids are hungry but we can also see the coaches are scared and lost. It's gonna be a long season with too many ups and downs

Not on the season, but my faith in the staff is just about shot. It's not the number of losses, it's the manner and the consistency. I never expected a championship of any kind this season, but the way they have lost leaves me thinking the staff will not get over the hump next year. Hopefully I'm wrong.

My son is fifteen, and being a Vol fan in Memphis at that age SUCKS big time right now. His phone blew up at the end of the game with 30-40 kids giving him grief about UT. His comment to me was, "Let me know when UT gets new coaches. I'll start watching and caring again." He'll come around, but it was tough for me to argue considering what he was dealing with.

Given up? No.

Lost confidence in the coaching staff? Yes.

I think it is fair to honestly evaluate the coaching just as the coaches evaluate the players, based on game day performance. I am starting to see a head coach that is more of a game planner than a game-day coach. All is well as long as the other coach plays by the game plan. However, if the other coach makes adjustments to win the game, I don't think we have an answer. Just like the players, the coaches should be expected to learn from mistakes to get better. I expect that starting this week.

If you give up on the season because of the coaching, you give up on the coach, which means you give up on the program until you have a coaching change. I do agree with Butch that success is a process. At this point in the process, we need to see improvement in coaching. If we don't, Dave Hart may need to make adjustments in the future, but not now.

No I havent given up on the team but my expectations have taken a hit. Butch is a great recruiter but apparently not a game manager. I think bringing in Deboard was a big mistake.

Not sure how people are still predicting 8 wins. Our staff is coaching scared late in the games and with the loss of Maggitt and possibly Sutton for the year this is going to sink fast. Watching 3 defenders around the UF receiver all miss the tackles reminded me of the AR punt return. The horrible mismanagement of the clock resulting in a 5 yd penalty reminded me of the LSU 14 on the field

Haven't bothered watching since the OK game. The UF game just reaffirmed my decision. Even the most loony fans can't possibly think we have a shot at bama or UGA, and we certainly shouldn't be confident against anyone else on the schedule except north Texas and vandy.

It is entirely possible for us to run the table this year. I said possible. Not likely. lol

Haven't given up but have given up my emotional investment and the upcoming losses will not hurt. I have gone from expecting 8-9 wins to hoping we can get to 6 and play in a bowl game. Unless a different scheme is put into place I have a hard time looking at the schedule and finding "guaranteed" 6 wins. I would never have said that a month ago. Staff is in over their head. You can recruit #1s every year but if your play-calling and game management skills are flawed you will not be successful especially when unwilling to even recognize or acknowledge it.

No. 7/8 wins is very reachable...............I hope

The 7 or 8 wins should have been around 9 or 10 all things considered this season.

I want to remain optimistic, but my faith in the coaching took a pretty big shot on Saturday. Hopefully they can recover, but we'll see. I do think that there should be some natural concerns right now.

We're exactly where I figured we would be at this point before the season started.

I based my predictions on my assessment that Butch Jones is not a good football coach.
