I'm a little surprised Garner's not getting more votes, but he was here the same time as 2 other NFL backs - Stewart and Hayden, dang that was a loaded backfield.

I was going to comment on this as well. A testimony to Garner's talent can be seen in the fact that he relegated Little Man and Aaron Hayden to backup duties the two years that he was here. In 1991, the year before Garner arrived, Stewart and Hayden gained 939 and 704 yds., respectively, as freshmen.

If we settled this poll based on the honors that they won, Dale Cart would have to get the nod. He was a two-time All-American (1990, 1991. See UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics - Football), whereas Leonard Little was an All-American in 1997 ( UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics - Football).

I dont see why people are surprised by the Patterson votes. His all purpose yardage numbers tell the story. Nobody could make people miss like that guy.

Straight up baller! If the young crowd thought Patterson made people look silly, Dale Carter was a man amongst boys. He was far and away the best talent on the field in most if not all of the games he suited up in. DOMINATED!

Would have loved to see him in college. I have caught his highlights on youtube. I was very pleased on draft day. At that time they showed more UT games in NW Mo. than MU games. So I knew who he was in college.

I have to go with Little but Carter was special too. That return against UF was something to watch and had a bunch of kids jumping all around the room

Garner is one of my all time favorites (hence the screen name), but weren't Chuck Smith and Cris Mims both JUCOs on the '90 - '92 teams? Best DE tandem we've had IMO.

Have seen them all at Neyland. Carter is at the top of the list without question. He could turn a game upside down on D or on special teams. Was really special. Garner was great and started ahead of Stewart and Hayden. But he got breathers from those two and especially on goal line formations when Stewart would do his dive over the top. There were no subs for Carter. Little, Smith and Mims were all special at what they did at DE as well. Patterson would be up there with this group if he would have stayed another season. Special, unique talent like Carter.

I don't think a one year player should b on any list for Tn all time greats unless it is a single season list.

Went with Carter because we had him for more than one year. Patterson would be my choice if we had him 2-3 years.

Dale Carter rolling around campus with Pickens, Alvin Harper and Anthony Morgan back in the day was pretty cool. Thank goodness there was no Twitter or camera phone. Carter was just a beast. He didn't look like he weighed 170 lbs and was rail thin.

You obviously have NEVER watched any of Dale Carter's tape...Just watch the 1991 Auburn game video for a small taste....:salute:

I'd go Byron Moore. He's so active to recruit and get guys in here and get em committed when he's not even going to be here to play with them. He's the true definition of a VFL. I think VFL is a term that's thrown around too loosey goosey, and this is one of the few guys who I actually think deserves to be called a VFL. He has done more on the field than anyone in our secondary in a few years as well. Need to put him in the poll IMO.

Don't see how people saying someone was only here a year, so they don't count is a valid argument. The reason he was only here a year is because he was good enough to get drafted in the 1st round after only 1 year. I've never seen a player like CP except for Barry sanders (yes I know WR and RB). CP has incredible field vision and any time he touched the ball there was a possibility he was going to score. He single handedly kept us in some games. He was like the Eric Berry of our offense, a game changer.

Carter's the one...he was a freak covered huge amounts of ground and brought the lumber. He has to barely beat out LLittle. Garner was a total stud as well. Any of these are logical. CP not here long enough and on bad...all time bad team. Chuck Smith and Chris Mims where special also.

I can definitely see the argument for CP...and if only we had the luxury of finding out what he'd be like this year in orange.

Buuut, Dale Carter had just as much field vision and was just as slick. I remember being excited every single time the other team had to punt, because Dale Carter was a threat everytime he touched the football...and could lay wood like Steve Atwater.

Who is the greatest transfer? As in from another FBS (1-A) school? Only two come to mine Malik and Rivera. Who am I missing? No, Brandon Warren doesn't make the list.
