Why is Barnes playing JJJ well over 30 minutes a game, nearly the entire game? Mind boggling.

He is getting more time on the court than Knecht.

Knecht maybe had 20 good minutes in him today. He's not on the same level conditioning-wise as JJJ, and way below him to start on defense anyway.

I think we'll see him do better going ahead, but he was pretty much spent by the end of the first half today.

Defense, intangibles, and there aren't many 4s on the team. Knecht can score the ball, but he has lapses on defense and boxing out.
So he will improve in these areas by sitting on the bench? That'll learn 'em.

Knecht has the hot hand and then he's rewarded by sitting his ass on the bench, comes back in and is cold as ice. But by golly he wiffed on a couple of defensive stands, so I'll show him the ol Rick Barnes' way.....sit and think about what you did wrong boy....

In the last 2 games JJJ has played 34 minutes against Purdue and managed to score a whopping 3 points. Today against Kansas he played 34 minutes and managed an IMPRESSIVE 4 points.

In 68 minutes on the court, a total 7 points.

You almost have to try to be that bad.

But, hey man, hey, did y'all see that? Did y'all see that crazy steal JJJ just made? Huh man did ya see that? Man that's my guy what a heck of a steal. Oh and also did you see that rebound that went right to him? That was badass

Knecht seems to be option 1 on the offensive end this season and Kansas and Purdue looked to take him out of the games.

And then while they took Kinect out using 1.5 defensive players someone (vescovi, JJJ, ZZ and others) had open opportunities and either failed to launch or missed.

Until someone else steps up, all other teams are going to concentrate on Kinect and leave someone else open. Vescovi has to stop passing up open shots to dribble through the lane and back out. If he is not going to shoot, someone else needs to be out there. FYI…I realize he did well yesterday but he passed up open shots where the defender was 3’ off of him instead of what he considers open which is 6’.

Bogus argument created here. They're both starters, JJJ isn't taking minutes from Knecht. Maybe Knecht sits a little more due to conditioning. Goofy poll.

I kind of agree with the OP. Two years ago JJJ led us to an SEC tournament championship and he's lacked consistency since then. It's frustrating because he has All-american potential he just doesn't show it enough

If JJJ isn't producing quickly, we really need to either
give Mashack more of his minutes or get Philips into the game quicker.

He had cramps while he was there too, some of the sitting was preventative

So, precisely how many minutes did JJJ take from Knecht (hint: 0)

lmao

Comedy gold
Several, because reducing JJJs playing time down to 12-15 minutes, or fewer, will mean they will have to play better talent sitting on the bench and different combinations, which by default with give Knecht more valuable minutes vs sitting him while he has the hot hand.

While taking nothing away from him during that tourney stretch, because yes, he did get hot at the right time in conference tournament. That was his moment in the spotlight, though. He was NOT good for the vast majority of that season and the NCAA tournament was awful

I think Knecht played too many minutes against Syracuse and that's why he was cramping so bad. That may have had something to do with his reduced minutes yesterday.

The JJJ critics are fools. Versus Purdue and Kansas should he be taking 3s when SV, BK, and JG are better options? Should he be driving into the paint when he’s giving up nearly a foot to the 2 All-American centers playing on the #1 and #2 ranked teams.
