Pretty simple question. He is 5-2. 2 losses in conference. Seems to have been living on a prayer and miracles with wins. Today, absolutely ass stomped.

Is he in trouble if he loses another game this season?

Yes or no. That simple
Hell no ! Been watching UT 40 years , he can go 8-4 for the next 5 years and he will get a raise.
Ok is good enough for UT Admin. This ain't Bama , Florida , Ohio st etc where they expect top 10 every year or your in trouble!

No.

I know it's an emotional night given the drubbing we received. But stop for a second and realize that we're 5-2 with wins over UGA and UF, losses to undefeated top 5 teams. And all of that with JRM, Sutton, DKJr out. Think about that.

What were your honest expectations for this team 7 games in, assuming everyone was HEALTHY?

I would think that if we fired Butch Jones who has improved his record over each of his four seasons, and who has lost to the #1 and #6 teams in the country, one on the road, and finished 9-3 instead of 10-2 then Tennessee would richly deserve the title of dumbest university in the United States.

I think he will but he doesn't have to. I have not forgotten that until this year the last time the Vols beat Florida I was 17 in high school, no wife, no kids, no debt, no real responsibilities. And yet after a loss to the best team in the country with us decimated by injuries they're are people calling for his head? I understand this is 2 losses in a row. I unterstand that the year has been an emotional roller coaster, but what butch has instilled back into this program a belief that we can complete week in and week out is something I've missed for a long time and I'm not ready to go back down that road again. Tonight sucked but $h*t hits the fan every now and then and you are under gunned. We can still end the regular season at 10-2 How long since we've seen that?

Vandie beat UGA today. Effing Vandie. So they miraculous hail mary is laughable now. It took a miracle for UT to be UGA. Vandie did it straight up....

They won after getting outgained 421 to 171. Not my definition of 'straight up.' I read the game summary and it was a strange game. Goes in the books as win, though, just like ours.

I want prominence as much as anyone. But the road to prominence passes through relevance. Relevance is where we are now. We've gone from not making a bowl to competing for a division title during his tenure. Will I be satisfied if this is as good as it gets? Absolutely not. But people need to stop acting like that's something they already know. Here's something I know...Saban and Urban aren't available. The rest of the coaches whose bandwagons some people on here like to jump on either don't play in this conference, or they've proven to have their problems, too, or both. I'm still with Butch. He's getting players to come to Tennessee, and those players lay it on the line for him, and that's the top metric to look at in my opinion.

Not sure why these polls get started because Butch isn't going anywhere unless he decides to take another job...UT isn't firing him and if they did it would be the worse move they ever made...Was hard enough to get him here because every other decent coach turned us down and most of them would again...UT doesn't pay the big money for coaches like other schools so we would end up with another mid major coach or even worse another Dooley..We are winning again...Enjoy it

Great. Let's start talking about firing the coach that's likely to have is at 10-2 for the first time in nearly a decade, go to the SEC, and has led us to two bowl games where we demolished both teams. By the way, we've only finished with 10 or more wins 4 times since '98.

No. It will set the program back yrs. Butch has revived a floundering program. Even if he is not the man to bring us back to a serious player in the national conversation cannot afford to start over at this point, it would set the program back 15 years. No serious coach would consider this position.

We agree the answer to the poll is NO!
The rest we don't. Was Michigan set back 15 years when the hired Harboug, it don't look like it, Ohio st when Urban took over,?No. They and others weren't set back they moved forward.
Firing a coach and hiring a better one doesn't set you back, hiring one as bad or worse does.
If at any point , be it this year or 3 years from now the AD thinks Butch can't put us in the national conservation then he needs to fire him and hire one that will. Money talks , pay up and get the best. No setback, going forward!

No. If we lose just one more game. It will get hot if he loses 2. After Florida and Georgia this year he has cemented another year unless we just have a total meltdown going down this last stretch.

If Tennessee is still a legit top-tier program then his seat should already be hot.
Everything has been about this year. This was his year when he had all the talent, he could quit talking about youth, quit talking about how no one had flown in a plane before, etc.
And now we see 49-10 in year 4.

Yes he does.
If we win out and FL ends up going to ATL, it's just really bad luck.
If we lose 1 game against sub par teams then we don't deserve to go to ATL and Butch needs to go packing.
We already beat FL and GA and loss to the top 2 best teams in SEC west. There's no reason to lose another game.

Totally ignorant poll.

buTch isn't going anywhere unless he's forced out.

Stop drinking and remember where we were 3 1/2 years ago when we got curb stomped by everyone with the entire team healthy.

VFL...GBO!!!
