With the current climate, it is safe to say that big name hires are unlikely. We still have a shot at a couple good names. I decided to take a poll based on the 3 names I've heard thrown around the most.

Just vote based on who you would support most. Last option is for those who will boycott UT football if any of these options are hired.

Thanks!

Martin would need to show up hat in hand. He essentially insulted the program when interviewed before. Contrition would go a long way to redemption. Otherwise, leave him in the granola state.

When did he insult the program?

Brohm all day long, but I doubt he would come now.

I’d support Tee or Cut, but it’s hard to put money into this program so long as the Haslams are controlling it. It feels like flushing good money down the drain to spend on anything they control besides a visit to a Pilot or Flying J.

Venables
Martin
Sumlin

Personally I’m not a huge fan of any of these candidates but if we’re going to have to settle for mid major coaches, I could live with these.

Right now any "great coach" is prob off the table. I think it is time that we all realize how far down Tennessee currently is. I thought things had gotten better, but after this season, and after yesterday........things are bleak.

I think we need someone for the long haul, not an up and comer who may be great......but may be fired in a few years. Martin could become the answer for a long term solution. Sure he is not the most experienced and sure he has some flaws; however he could be committed to get Tennessee back in the long term........for a long time. Martin is young, he is a great recruiter, and he could bring in a good "Tennessee" staff.

If Martin was willing to leave his current gig and come to this current Tennessee situation.......then he would certainly be in it for the duration and in it for the right reason. He would certainly not hire or not fire people because they are who he wants, he wouldn't stick to a scheme if it didn't work, he wouldn't bail if things got bad, and he wouldn't put himself before the team or program..........because he would be in it for Tennessee and not himself.

Maybe it is time to not look for "that guy" and start looking for stability and long term........and maybe Vol people and former Vol players could be the best option.

Sorry - I just don't understand the love for Brohm. He's coached at WKU and Purdue. He may have done a nice job but that does not mean he can succeed in the SEC.

I'd take a chance with Tee before I'd go with Brohm. Helton gives Tee a nice endorsement.

Cut as HC with Tee as OC/HC in waiting. That's as good as it's gonna get!

Steele as DC...offer a ton of cash, whatever it takes.

Can we stop with the polls already?

Unless you want to revise to: Who will take the job at UT? Maybe better way to phrase it.

I think Tee "insulted" Butch (who modestly viewed himself as UT football program) by turning down assistant position under him. Turns out Tee was correct about Butch and shoud actually get credit for that.

I could get behind that. However, the only way Tee comes is if he’s the head coach imo. Plus, Cut is in a pretty cushy job at duke. He don’t need the drama.
