Is this weekend's game with Kentucky the biggest and most important game for Butch thus far?

With so much riding on this game, I say it's a must win. I think it's more than a must win, it's a statement game.

It is a turning point for the Butch led Vols. It is a defining moment. UT has a chance to come out and really make a statement. I believe this may be the most meaningful game yet. It is a crossroads game. The outcome could propel UT in either direction.

I hope to see a fired up Vols squad that handles business early, often and for all four quarters. I hope we see a fired up bunch that knows they have something to play for and that they are going to really seize the moment!!

This year's florida game was IMO. But now that we're fighting for bowl eligibility, every game is the most important until we get to 6

Same could be said, and was said, about the last game at SC. And win or lose this Saturday against UK, the same will be said about the following game against Mizzou. Every game is big until we get that 6th win.

Are you saying the Vols football team and "a below .500 team" are synonymous? :p

But the premise of this thread is pretty silly. UK the biggest game of Butch's UT career? Are you serious? Don't we have this thread every week?

For the amount riding on this game, it is bigger than this year's Florida game. Did we want to beat Florida? Sure! But we never do. This is a turning point game for this bunch. It's huge. Win and things are looking a lot brighter. Lose and it's a potential complete meltdown

Butch's biggest game so far is the SC win last year. Without that, he has a bad record and hasn't beaten anybody worth a crap. This is a much different message board (and probably recruiting cycle) without that SC win last year.

Beating Kentucky and Vandy to get to six wins seems a lot easier than having to beat mizzu and vandy in back to back weeks in order to get to six.. so yes this is huge

That's just silly. We have 3 games to win two. If a bowl game is the goal, this isn't even a "must win." Butch has had several games much more important than this one.

I would argue that USC either of the past 2 years were bigger games or more important wins. Vandy last year was definitely a more important game, but we lost.

No...

Each game, no matter who the opponent is, happens to be the "biggest game." Because it's MFin Tennessee.

I laughed at the statement game comment. With just 2 wins over UT in the last 30 years, it might be a statement game for their program but for UT I would say it is just another W for the books.

Butch hasn't been our HC very long but I am sure he has heard "they remember what you do in November" more than once. He's a smart guy and he's not going to add additional pressure on the team with some silly nonsense about UK being a must win or it being the biggest and most important game. . .

Disagree. No one knew how bad FL was until they actually got into the season, and until that game, everyone (sensible) had it marked down as a loss for UT anyway. Our record is what it should be at this point.

Every game is important but I think almost everyone on here would have signed up for a 6-6 finish with a win over UF instead of a 7-5 season without beating the Gators. UF was the game of this season and we came up a little short. I'm not faulting Jones but it is what it is.

From here on every game is very important, to me to get bowl eligible we have to beat UK because I see no way we beat Missouri if we can't take UK at home coming off a bye week of extra prep. Vandy game is important to win the state.

It is the most important game simply because it is the one we are playing this week. Biggest of his career? Hopefully not.

That's what I was trying to say, but you said it way better than I could.

That's what I get for posting before coffee.

I think it is now the biggest due to what is riding on the game. It is a crossroads type of game.
Make a statement that the Vols are for real and they HAVE turned the corner! (not that beating UK is a statement game, just what this game means)

This is a game that the Vols CAN'T lose in my opinion!!

I thought the USCjr game was bigger. A chance to get the ball rolling into some very winnable game. Validates Dobbs even more. Big confidence boost, and especially sweet beating OBC two years in a row.
