I hate to keep talking about him, but MANY people can't stop.

Many are ragging Butch and claiming he isn't improving or at least hasn't met expectations.

So, I ask you! If Dooley had coached this team under these circumstances, where would he have finished?

I'm not so sure! His teams seemed to NEVER come out and play after half time.

Many of the close games that Butch had, would have likely ended as blow outs agaisnt Dooley led teams.....

Bama for sure

Missouri for sure

The question asked Dooley, and not Sunseri. I believe that Sunseri is a curse and he would have been fired after that 2012 season, so my answer is assuming he was fired and another D-Coordinator was brought in for 13-14.

I recognize that we likely would not have signed the same talent level, but my answer assumes that we did. If Dooley had signed Hurd,Kelly,Medley,Dobbs and other freshman, we would be 6-6 I think the difference might be a SC loss and perhaps a Florida win. I am still just so stunned that we lost to such a terrible gator team, i think 8 out of 10 times, Tennessee wins that game. we just ended up on the wrong side this time.

I honestly don't think they would have played hard for Dooley

Bizarre thread but that's cool on a Monday. So I'll bite. Dooley would not have landed this recruiting class nor Dobbs so Peterman as our QB and without our crazy talented young guys. 3-9.

Not even the most pessimistic negavols say that Butch is not an improvement on the Dooley debacle. So this is a silly thread from that point of view.

But if you strictly want to talk about HOW MUCH improvement, then it is a descent thread. We're definitely better than we were. Would not have beaten vandy or usc. Dooley's teams got worse as the season went on. Believe he would have won the other four.

Why is Dooley the measuring stick? Most Vol fans agree that Dooley wasn't the answer. Our goal for Butch should be substantially better than what Dooley "accomplished."
