Point Guard by Committee - RB

I disagree. This year with Turner or Gray isn't a NCAAT season regardless IMO, Barnes is looking ahead and trying to build stability. Gray has 3 years of eligibility and judging by his final destination is a mid major talent, ideally we don't want to tie up 3 years on someone of that caliber. We are sitting in a good spot with Jordan Bone, hopefully Turner ends up here whether it's in the fall, next semester, or even as a member of the 2016 class...both are better options than Gray going forward.
Really don't think knowing Barnes' history that he's the kind of guy to concede a season.
He either knows turner will qualify or he's got an ace in the hole.
Would we be interested in Jefferson? Any issues? Hasn't signed last I looked.

Barnes said punter has been in the gym more than anybody, and I will fix the shembari part, meant to say he's capable.

Saying someone is a gym rat, and saying someone is doing good at PG are two completely opposite things, no? In fact, when talking about his worth ethic and how often he's in the gym Barnes specifically referenced Punter's work on his shot, nothing about ball handling or passing.

I don't think its conceding at all, he will still work his and his players tails off, but he has mentioned multiple times building stability, and alluded to not wanting to just go and fill the roster with JUCO's and grad transfers to be in the same position next season, also mentioned how he wouldn't take someone just to fill a roster spot, he could've easily taken the guy who ended up at UIC.

As for Jefferson I'm not sure, La Salle has a guard who announced today he's gonna be a grad transfer, nothing special but at this point if Turner's a no go may be worth a look.

I never said they were incapable, but neither are PGs, and the only true PG we have a shot at fielding this season is Lamonte Turner. That's on Tyndall, no matter how you try and explain it away.

If we go into the season with Armani Moore, Kevin Punter, and Shembari Phillips running point, then that falls primarily on Tyndall's shoulders.

You don't think CDT was going to bring in another recruit to add to the list of possible PGs??

It would appear to me CRB put all his eggs in a basket that looks worrisome at the moment

Did SD just really say someone else was "way out in left field"? Mr. "Hart Fired Tyndall to Get Barnes on the Grassy Knoll"?

yes, I think Tyndall was going to give a schokarsbip to a mid major talent for the next 3 seasons

Hoping that wouldn't have been the better course of action but with today's news I think I would taken that since CRB also failed to fill other available spots

Or maybe the previous coach shouldn't have ran off better options

Why waste 3 years on a mid major talent (Rob Gray) when we can easily upgrade over him?(QUOTE)
The previous coach had zero to do with running off better options and could turn a mid-major player into a N_BA pick plus probably put JR in the NBA by teaching him the point guard skills. Another blaming a fired coach for the current coach's recruiting. Remember Barnes, unlike Tyndall, was hired before national signing day ever got here on March 31 over 3 weeks earlier than DT.

They are not opposite. In fact, when i hear someone say gym rat a Pg is exactly what i think of of. That being said the point you were trying to make is correct.. Barnes said nothing about him doing well or looking good at pg.

What other available spots did he fail to fill?

Don't we have at least one vacated scholarship spot at the moment??

I have no issue with leaving a spot open so that isn't a criticism BUT if it ends up being multiple spots without signing a PG(even if it was a marginal talent) that's a huge mistake.

Richardson got in the NBA because he's a great defender that learned how to shoot. He will not play PG in the league.
